I guess when you make $9M/year, you get a story written about you every game you don’t put a point on the board. Here’s an idea: put him with Backstrom and Brouwer/Ward and leave it for about 5 games so they have a chance to gel.

The penalty against Ward was totally bogus, and it cost us the game. All year if the Caps had lost it was on them, but this game should have most likely gone into overtime.

If you listen to Oates’ press interviews, he placed Ovi on the top line with two grinders, Beagle and Crabb because of there speed and skating abilities. This in concept looks to back off the defense and should allow Ovi more room to skate and shoot, and give the other two forward more space to work as well. Oates is just doing his job and creating strategy for this team. If Ovi was scoring more, I am sure you call it brilliance and not object to the 4th liners being paired with Ovi. Have some patience, they are playing better with every game.

No doubt the loss hurts, but the Caps are steadily improving their game regardless of line pairings. They are establishing a stronger forecheck, controlling and moving the puck better, and creating better scoring chances and shots on goal. However, the little mistakes such as own zone and neutral zone TOs, and untimely penalties/PK again cost them the game last night.

No it’s not Ovi’s fault. It’s the coach, it’s his line mates’ it’s this or it’s that get real folks Ovi is not the stud he once was! Over paid and under achieving. Fat cat syndrome.

Hate the Caps but believe Ovie getting a raw deal here. If we are in March and he has 2 goals I might be concerned but it is still early and his recent line mates aren’t making things easier for him.

What do you expect with his line pairings? How the hell can you justify puttin Ovi on a line with that trash when he needs a good setup center. Hunter and Oates have killed Ovi’s production because they are not putting him with someone that can consistently feed him the puck. Hell, even pair him with Ribeiro, who is an excellent setup guy. Just look at the Rangers. Their top two lines are stacked with talent and then the bottom two are their grinders and role players. How Oates can pair Ovi with Crabb and whatever other trash they put out their is a crime..

Garbage pentaly in the last 3 min. How does the ref not two feet away call it but the guy across the ice does? High sticking my a$$
Im sorry im just salty. We did get some calls our way too i guess…
But in regards to ovi he had two great drives, even drew a penalty! Also had some wicked shots. Not too much in the hits department.
