This would be a major blow to the NYR,..I noticed when this injury was first published yesterday there were tons of people neglecting the fact hes hurt and bantering back and forth “who cares he isnt great, he is an ok to solid player” you obviously dont watch enough hockey. Sign me up for 20-30 goals a season, one of the top penalty killers in the NHL, one of the best defensive forwards in the NHL, a top 5-10 guy who leads the NHL in blocked shots and hits yr in and out. He brings a ton to the table. His grit and how he gives up his body alone gets his team fired up. A good example is a few years ago at the end of the yr he dove face first into a chara slap shot and ended up breaking his leg in half, rangers were horrid without him in that capitals series in the playoffs. he is a huge part of their team. To show you the type of player he is, he still dives face first to block chara’s shots.

agreed, talbot did nothing wrong….scrub happened and he seemed to let up when callahan said something….he could have kept pounding…i am not one to give a flyer credit, but i saw nothing wrong…

here’s hoping the mri comes back with nothing major,….need you back soon captain…

I was just reading the article and the comments, and no one said anything about Talbot doing anything wrong?

Also it should be noted that outside of fights that are happening out of retaliation for something major, this type of thing isn’t uncommon. A lot of times they just tell each other when they’re done – it’s not classy, not unclassy…it’s just the way it is.

Yeah, Max did nothing wrong. I saw the game last night and also just watched the video here a couple of times.

Callahan’s shoulder issue starts when the two tumble to the ice.

If you watch Max after that, he notices Ryan is in pain and Max then gets to his feet gingerly and carefully (b/c he very clearly doesn’t want to hurt Ryan any further).

He then beckons towards the benches with his hand – a nonverbal gesture that Jimmy McCrossin or the NYR health expert better come over quick as Ryan is in pain.

What exactly did Talbot do wrong there? He saw Cally was hurt and immedietely stopped. If he wanted to be a real jerk about it he could have popped him in the arm or face for good measure.

Fingers crossed indeed that Callahan is OK. He’s not going to score a ton of points but he sets the tone physically and is a huge factor on all special teams.
