The rumors you read make it out like he’s def pissed off a few people in that locker room. Maybe they are mad at the fact he’s proven nothing at the NHL level except being okay, and then is holding out for money he’s not worth. If i’m a veteran in the league trying to win a cup, I wouldn’t hate a young guy like Subban at all, but he would tick me off. Judging from those comments IMO sounds like they want him back, but honestly can’t stand his personality or way he went about this whole thing.

Id look at it as a slap in to face to the media who were asking the questions. We don’t know what the real question that was asked. That’s why I believe Josh Gorges wanted to comment when Subban was present. So they don’t quote him on a question that was twisted. Now the media is trying to make their own controversy in the locker room just as they tried to do in NJ with Kovalchuk “wanting to stay in the KHL” when he finally spoke and said that he never said those comments at all. He was on a road trip with the KHL team at the time. They went in to the locker room and asked Patrik Elias what he thought, and all he said was “its not fine to be late to camp for anyone unless he has permission from management” which Kovalchuk did have. Then the media tried to twist it around.

So….. I doubt anyone was pissed at Subban for wanting mroe money and holding out after these same fools cut 34 games out of this season for the same thing… M-O-N-E-Y

There are talks that he is a disturbance off the ice and lats say what he hear is 100% accurate. Also we can safely assume that Therrien is well aware of his issues. So, that does mean that the alternative captains should react with anything less than positive remarks? Why add fuel to a fire? The C and As, and coaching staff need to get him in line. Why not just say, “PK is part of the team and we’re happy he has resolved his contractural issues.” Call PK whatever name you want and I’ll agree with you. The 2 As who spoke are responsible for leading the way with the C to integrate PK into the team. So far they have not demonstrated that they are a better teammate than PK. Maybe they have in the room, but not with these comments.

As the article points out, this is far from the first time there were hints that Subban is not a great lockeroom person. So before some of you rush to jump on these guys for their rather muted comments, perhaps you should consider that the guy is in fact a problem off the ice.

Probably.

Its not that other teams dont want him, its that Subban (and a lot of fans apparently) seems to think hes worth huge money… and while he might be some day, hes not right now. Thus other teams didn’t want to be bothered with him at this point.

His deal with Montreal is actually a really good one for him and was actually a lot better then it should have been because now Montreal, if they chose to keep him, has to offer him at least $3.75 million in two years. Thats a lot of money for a guy with a few question marks, and whos not yet put up stats worth that much.

The point is you don’t develop good teammates by acting to the contrary. They have to walk the talk. These guys need to believe in each other if they want wins. Someone is going to have to be the bigger man, and I would think the captain and alternative captains would step up and act accordingly. So, if what is reported is true and not blown out of proportion then it wasn’t a great reaction to the question. Unless I’m mistaken Gorges and Markov are alternatives.

I don’t think they said, or even eluded, to the fact that they didn’t like him. Seems like they just shrugged off the question, and we conclude the rest from that. But I don’t think you can take a situation where one guy is a virus in the locker room (just speaking hypothetically) and blame that on everyone else, and say THEY are bad teammates.

Based on the comments reported by Markov and Gorges one has to put in doubt their ability to be good teammates. A REAL teammate would have reacted more positively towards another teammate, and if they have something negative to say, then tell him to his face. PK is a member of the team weather they like or not, and they have to embrace that fact and treat him as such. If he steps out of bounds, then bring him to order behind close doors.

It’s interesting that his teammates and fans of OTHER teams seem to have the same opinion of him, but fans of the Habs seem to love him. That’s not a knock in any way on the great fans of Montreal, just an observation. Actually I thought Therrien had a thing or two to learn about comaraderie during his stint in Pittsburgh also.
