Interesting comment – how do you get another scorer?

Point is, you could potentially trade one of the young guys for Defense. Maybe…with picks also. But trading the young offensive guys for offense…that’s a different story. How do you get more offense, who do you give up?

I hate hate hate hate to say it but I agree with the philly guy – according to this year’s stats, NYR may have ‘over valued’ quite a few players also…the NYR aren’t exactly ripping it up.

It’s amazing how many times Flyer players get into fights because of “just standing there” doing nothing. Simmonds just stood there on Brodeur recently too, and somehow, through no fault of his own, his stick crosschecked Brodeur, but again…not his fault, he didn’t do anything either.

Talbot’s used to be a class act, and he showed some leftover class by listening to Callahan and allowing him out of the scrap. But the Flyers consistently whack opposing teams’ goalies after the play to get a rise and hopefully throw the other team into an undisciplined game. I hate the tactic, hate the team.

Funny how a blurb about an injured Ranger turned into a Philadelphia Flyers forward depth conversation. I really hope Cally is okay, but it didn’t look good to me. The effort he shows and willingness to do everything to help is team is exemplary. I agree Talbot did the right thing when he realized Callahan was hurt, and I applaud Callahan for getting chippy at that moment because the Rangers were going through a bit of a lull then. Just another example of why he’s captain.

As for the Flyers, it’s not a question of talent. Giroux (supposedly the best player in the world, right Philadelphia?) gets to play with a top 6 of Voracek, Simmonds, Briere, Read, and Couturier/Schenn. Each of those players can score 20+ goals. From what I’ve seen they have no transition game to get the puck up ice quickly to the forwards in a position where they have space to create. Otherwise, they just need a quality game to build confidence and they’ll get rolling again. The Hartnell injury hurts but let’s not misttake Hartnell for more than he is, a competant tough forward who succeeds because Giroux is his center.

I’m a Flyers fan, but Talbot was in the crease… it happens. I just wish the Flyers were a bit more protective of Bryzgalov. Who would’ve thought that our goalie would’ve been the one bright spot on this team so far….

Flyers FW’s no goals in last 119 mins. Mike Knuble may have been part of the answer, but he wasn’t the whole answer. Shaking up the lines won’t do anything, NEED another goal scorer.

The skill is there, it’s just EVERYONE is slumping. They have talent but they’re pressing too much, trying to make a perfect pass or play, and that leads to mistakes. The only player, besides Bryz, who actually played well tonight was Briere. He was the only one showing life.

Props to Ryan a lot of Flyers fans have nothing but respect for him and the Rangers they play a hard physical game with a great goalie on the other hand man Philadelphia has an absolutely horrendous power play Paul Holmgren man you way over valued guys like Jake Voraceks actual skill level.

As a Flyer’s fan I think Callahan is awesome and his style of play is great. He will never be a 50 goal scorer but that isn’t his style, doesn’t mean he still can’t be great. I hope he is ok and not lost for the season. That would definitely hurt the Rangers and there lines. That said I love when the Flyers and Rangers play, it never let’s the fans down. Us Flyers and Rangers fans respect each other too unlike Penguin fans who are classless like their team. It’s always fun watching them get smoked, especially by the Islanders tonight/ last night.

Callahan is one player I really respect, he gives the type of effort that every player should. If he’s lost for an extended amount of time the Rangers might have to breakup their big 3 bc their lines will be even more uneven. His loss wasn’t that impactful tonight because the Flyers were totally inept. But it could be huge for NY, he sets the tempo. Talbot is the same kind of energy player, albeit not as talented. I thought it was a class move by Talbot to stop grappling and wave towards the bench when he knew Callahan was hurt. He could have easily thrown a few extra shots but instead immediately let go.

Players can be great for a lot of reasons. Callahan might not be flashy, and hes never going to win the Rocket Richard… but he has a ton of other assets that make him a really good player.

That’s what he gets for instigating that whole thing. Talbot was just standing there, he wasn’t even poking at Lundqvist and Callahan grabbed him by the back of the neck and starts yanking on him. It was totally unnecessary.

Callahan is a great player and I really hope hes not out long.

This is the one drawback with Callahan though… hes probably never going to play 82 games in a season. Hes not that big by NHL standards, and likes to play a tough style of hockey. Throw in his nack for blocking shots and hes a walking injury waiting to happen.
