PHT’s Morning Skate takes a look around the world of hockey to see what’s happening and what we’ll be talking about around the NHL world and beyond.

Devils coach Pete DeBoer is looking to his leadership group to be better prepared for the start of games. Although New Jersey has gotten off to a 3-0-1 start, they’ve been outclassed early in games and DeBoer wants to nip that in the bud. (The Bergen Record)

The Ottawa Senators have summoned 19-year-old forward Mika Zibanejad, but coach Paul MacLean hasn’t decided if he’ll actually use him. (Ottawa Citizen)

The Winnipeg Jets have been playing a disciplined game and are off to a 3-1-1 start. They aren’t ready to celebrate yet though. (NHL.com)

Ottawa Senators defenseman Marc Methot has already played in five games over 10 days and he’s about to play in another set of back-to-back contests on Tuesday and Wednesday. With the schedule so compressed he “feels like I’ve already played half the season.” (Ottawa Citizen)

Oilers goaltender Devan Dubnyk held on during a 24-shot Colorado Avalanche onslaught in the third period of Monday’s game. His team still won 4-1 thanks to his efforts. (Edmonton Journal)

The Anaheim Ducks still aren’t sure if they want to keep 2011 first-round pick Rickard Rakell beyond his five-game trial. The 19-year-old could reach that mark this weekend. (Orange County Register)

Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward is having a tough time adjusting to playing again after the lockout, but he feels like he might be turning a corner. (The News & Observer)
