It’s called eliminating statistical outliers, not cherry picking. There is no reason to include a rookie season where he played half of the games, and a career worst season in which it was later determined he was playing through a major injury for the entirety of it.

And yes being 19th is bad!!! When you are a the number 1 center making a top 10 paycheck!! 19 puts him in the bottom half of all faceoff men. Get over it he’s gone!!

19th out of 120+ players. Yep, he sucked! This is why so many Buffalo fans are miserable. You take last year as evidence as to why he was a pansy, yet refuse to acknowledge that he played through a serious injury all year! Softest player I’ve ever seen!

From the last lockout until last season, Roy averaged .86666 points per game, or 71 points over 82 games. He was a +54. Those are elite numbers. Yet Buffalo fans couldn’t get over the fact he wears pink shirts downtown, so he must be terrible at hockey and a terrible person to boot. It makes the city look so 2nd rate. There is an inferiority complex in that city, and you bring it on yourselves.

Roy was 19th in faceoffs last year.. Just over 50%.. And as for plus minus he only finished on the plus side2 times in 6 years.. How’s that for facts.. He also only had 44 points in 80 games last year so before you start quoting stats you should probably look them up first.. My breaks over now..back to work find out if your mom will let you have more computer time after school.. Then you can look up the stats

Roy was over 50% on faceoffs, was a top pker, and often matched up against other teams top lines. He was also almost always a + in +/-. You’re bias gets in the way of facts. Now the top 2 centers are below 40% on faceoff, have never pked or played against top competition. Real upgrade. It’s shameful how Buffalo drives people out. Who’s next? I already know, the whip has started to be transfered to Myers. Have fun Tyler.

Marty Biron practiced with the team during the lockout, Rob Ray went on to play with a rival and is now the color commentator for the buffalo sabres, also a alumni member and resides in buffalo… A lot of players leave here on good terms, Jay McKee and Andrew Peters coachedthe sabres during the lockout. Derek Roy was cancer of the team after his comments made last year.

And as for leaving on good terms.. Look up Dave Andrechuck.. Dale Hauerchuck.. Mogilny .. Marty Biron.. The list is endless.. Most ex-Buffalo players stay here after retirement . The only reason Roy’s public life is mentioned is because Hockey wasn’t his priority and he showed it in his play

Ok you want hockey reasons.. He was soft he folded in big situations .. He never did the dirty things needed to win.. He had a few decent seasons and was getting paid like a top first line center but I can assure you he wasn’t playing like one. He was terrible on defense and worse on faceoffs. Check the stat line

Who was the last player to play for more than 5 years for the Sabres to leave on good terms with fans? Lafontaine? You act as though your criticism is about him as a player, but then go on to talk about his lifestyle, as if the two were the same thing. Drury left Buffalo because he wanted to be a little more anonymous. Roy is lucky, in Dallas, he will be judged by his play rather than petty quarrels with fans that could only occur in Buffalo.

Soft.. Watched the guy his whole pro-career.. Seemed more interested in clothing and bars than winning. Sorry Dallas but that’s why we were so happy to see him go.
