Says you. But you don't matter. The return of the Nordiques while that rat Bettman is still living and breathing is just icing on the proverbial cake.

First I'll start with saying I think they will go to Seattle. Especially if expansion is on the horizon. But you can't just blow off Winnipeg and Quebec, even Kansas City for that matter, because of what happened before. Winnipeg has grown in population, the corporate muscle that wasn't there before is there now and the new arena is there too. Same can be said for Quebec. On top of that you have a CBA with a 50/50 split, a cap and better revenue sharing. This isn't 1995 anymore. The Jets are not an experiment. Gary Bettman might be a dick but he's not going to up and move a team with a new arena, strong ownership group and a packed house. Plus the Canadian Dollar is doing well. 18 years ago it was the exact opposite of all of that.

Some of the same can be said for Kansas City. I know you didn't mention them but just making a comparison. Not that I think a team should be there but saying it didn't work in the 70's is not an excuse for not doing it now. Again I point to the CBA and in the US the tv deal. A lot more exposure than back then.

Assuming this doesn't go through on Thursday, and I don't have faith it will, I think the Coyotes go to Seattle and the NHL expands to Markham (assuming they don't nix they're arena deal) and Quebec City. The owners who are always shortsighted will see huge expansion fees out of Canada and increased revenue being in all three of those markets. Which will raise the cap for the big teams. Columbus, Florida, Nashville, Carolina, Dallas, Anaheim probably, will all be hurt by the increasing cap and floor but the owners will just see the one time fees. The same they did in the 90's.

Im so sick of reading about Quebec City and Saskatoon. Yes, Phoenix has attendance issues - that much we know. But the city also has a big metro and one of the biggest TV markets in the US.

Now, I know ever fkn Canadian is screaming for an NHL team but the reality is that Quebec City has a metro of 700k, and Saskatoon has a metro of 200k while Seattle and Phoenix has a metro of 3.5 and 4.2 MILLION PEOPLE. So please stop asking for teams to move to these towns in Canada, and stop for a second and think about what that would do to the game.

Keep in mind Phoenix and Seattle also has some of the best TV Markets in North America, so please remind me how moving a team from a city of 4.2million to a _town_ in Saskatoon is going to help the game? It wont.. Ever... Are you guys really that fkn stupid to think that selling tickets to a game is going to make the move from phoenix to Quebec or Saskatoon viable?

Quebec and Winnipeg both had their fun and look how it ended - relocation for both. The return of the Jets is an experiment.

If the Phoenix relocate, which they should, it should be to a big City like Seattle. NHL already wants more west coast team, it has a metro of 3.5million, top 15 TV market, built in rivalry with Canucks and most importantly it could support a NHL franchise while help growing the game.

sorry computer screwed up. He expects the league to expand very soon. The rumor during the lockout? Relocate to Seattle and expand to Quebec and a second team in Toronto aka Markham. I think the Coyotes go to Seattle. You can get more money in expansion fees out of TO and QC than you could from Seattle.

As far as this saga goes I don't think he has the money. As the mayor said, if he has the money than why is he waiting until the last second???

Personally, I'd have a hard time betting against Quebec right now. For reasons you state, I still can't put Saskatoon ahead of Seattle at #2 in line.

I'm wondering if the league just didn't pencil Phoenix in for Quebec. Even in a shortened season, they had to have seen the travel Winnipeg would face and found a way to swap them with Columbus. It's pretty staggering being farther west than six teams (almost seven with Dallas) in the Western Conference.

Quebec (presumptive) and Winnipeg would be a sensible swap of conferences. At the very least they seem to be biding their time to allow Jamison's deal to fall through.

If it is Seattle or Saskatoon for some reason, I'm totally with you on Columbus on a better fit for the East. Nashville's built some nice rivalries with the other division mates, and I think they're still in CST.

What is one of the major costs to an nhl team? Player salaries. What is a major cost to a junior team? Stadium maintenance? Transportation? Not the players bc they get what a 100 dollar stipend? It failed in a hockey market less than 20 years ago. Its not like QC has had a renaissance in that time period. A team needs a uber rich owner or have access and be able to market itself to corporate sponsors. Preferrably both. Quebec City as you have already stated does not have the corporate sponsorship backing. Im not trying to knock the city in any way shape or form, im just saying, Quebec city is kind of on an island per say. Corporations dont want to put that kind of money into the team because they can only appeal to the few people on that island. Its a cultural dilemma as to why the NHL is not already in Quebec City. Its a shame because I really liked the new logo the Nordiques were going to have before they sold.

Seattle is the best city for an NHL team. The city would support a team very well. Also, there would be instant rivalry between Vancouver and Seattle. Seattle has a nice television market, along with nice corporate sponsorships. Microsoft, Starbucks, Boeing, just to name a few. Plus, it keeps a team in the west.

Also, switch Winnipeg and Columbus for the 2013-2014 season.

you're kidding right? I hope you are because if you're not i suggest you do some research before saying things like that. When you have a junior team that draw more than 10k people in the stand which is more than at least 2-3 cities in the NHL,I think you have a solid fan base.By the way they were still filling the colisee in the late 80's when the team was in the bottom of the league and piled up 1st round picks. There is a huge difference between having a bad market and a bad fan base,Quebec city is not the best market in terms of corporations and sponsors but the fan base will make up to it trust me.

Quebec does not have the fan base. They had a team that was one of the best in the league and the owner was forced to sell because of the fanbase. Being only french speaking does not help their cause at all. You cant force players to learn french. And you cant expect the local media or fanbase to learn english. Lose lose. I'm all for bringing teams into Canada, but quebec city is not a realistic place. Lets see how Winnipeg does after a few years and the excitement wears off.
