The Ottawa Senators face a challenge to prove themselves in a Sunday game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, but captain Daniel Alfredsson won’t be able to help out.

He’s out for at least today’s game because of some sort of sickness, according to the team. (Perhaps it’s a good sign that they didn’t label his illness as the flu.)

Not having the 40-year-old winger in the lineup is a minus, yet it might be good to give the aging Swede the occasional night off anyway. He’s actually been pretty effective so far, with three assists in the four games he’s played this season.

On the bright side, the Senators expect to get Guillaume Latendresse back from an undisclosed issue, according to Sportsnet’s Ian Mendes.
