PHT’s Morning Skate takes a look around the world of hockey to see what’s happening and what we’ll be talking about around the NHL world and beyond.

Phil Kessel usually starts his season off with a bang. Usually. He’s goalless through the first four games this season — the first time that’s happened since he was a rookie. Hello, Bizarro World. (Toronto Sun)

St. Louis’ Kevin Shattenkirk had a heart-t0-heart talk with Al MacInnis to get him back on track. Not bad help if you can get it. (Post-Dispatch)

New Jersey’s hot start shouldn’t be shocking anyone as there’s no way you can ever truly kill the Devils. (Fire & Ice)

Finally, Pavel Datsyuk‘s sick-nasty passing skills were in full effect last night against Minnesota. (NHL.com)

I want to make sure I saw that correctly. Datsyuk makes the pass through a sliding defender, past another’s stick and on to Bertuzzi’s stick? That’s nasty!!!

Datsyuk is un-real. One of the best players in league- don’t hear much about it anymore because of the Pennsylvania-centric hype following Crosby, Malkin, Giroux. But as a Sharks fan I fear him probably more then any player in the west.

Fire up the trade rumors, boys!!! Kessel has been bad so far. Wouldn’t be surprised if he is the talk of the trade deadline. I do give credit to the Leafs for giving Kadri a shot, who has been playing really well. Move him into a top 6 role, TOR. Potential trade:

    Leafs get: Pens Get:
    D Simon Despres
F Warren Peters F Phil Kessel
    Conditional Pick

Kessel plays with Geno and Neal and the Pens win the Cup
