Briere a game-time decision for Philly

The Flyers have been dealing with all sorts of injuries but they may be getting a key forward back tonight.

Flyers beat reporter Anthony San Filippo reports Danny Briere is a game-time decision for this evening’s game against Florida. The team has already sent forward Eric Wellwood back to AHL Adirondack to make room on the roster.

Philly is already without Scott Hartnell with a broken foot and Andrej Meszaros with a busted shoulder. On the upside, they get Brayden Schenn back from suspension and newly signed Mike Knuble will suit up tonight. If Briere joins them, things don’t look quite so bleak for the battered Flyers.

If Briere can’t go tonight, this is a positive step nonetheless as he’ll be that much closer to suiting up for them either tomorrow against Tampa Bay or Tuesday against the Rangers.

As much as I like roiling the blood of philly fans, I have to say that I would really like to see Briere back. They could another offensive weapon and I would like to see them be able to actually compete this year.

Too bad they had to send Wellwood down. Works hard and his speed is an asset.

Have you even watched the games? He was one of the few noticeable players during the 3 game losing streak. He always has energy and explosive speed. The only problem with him is he has next to no finishing ability. But Wellwood was definitely a solid 4th liner.

Yeah, wow, wellwood is good night in and night out, he’s fast, worrks hard and rarely a liability on the ice…he’ll be back sooner rather than later (esp with the way people are dropping like flies, knock on wood)
