Offense dries up in the playoffs, of course there are exceptions but in general that is just how things go.

If you could acquire a player at the deadline who was guaranteed to put up 5 points in a 7 game series, well lets just say I think you’d be taking part in a bidding war for a player like that.

I don’t think Marleau is necessarily worth his cap hit and I wouldn’t want him as my best player heading into the playoffs but it certainly does seem like he’s been made the poster boy for falling flat despite producing reasonably well (in general) rather than because of it.

But of course the Sharks have a lot of playoff disappointment and someone’s gotta wear the goat horns.. Marleau has been there through all of it.

This team is exciting to watch. Love him or hate him, Patty is on a tear right now. With the compressed schedule, I hope the team can stay on the ice.

Proud of the way patty has been playing. Also Havlat is on a tear as well. Just hope he can stay healthy all season! Maybe then they will have a shot at the cup. Obviously too early to say anything like “they are going to win it all” but so far so good.

agreed. i will give him credit for his last couple runs, he has played better…but you can argue he has had a better team around him too. i like him, just saying the criticism can easily be justified.

He’s also tied for the all-time lead in fewest games played in the Stanley Cup finals.

He averages 4 goals per playoff run, considering the Sharks have made it to the conference finals a few times (at least twice that I can think of offhand) the impressiveness of his being 2nd amongst active players quickly dissipates.

i would hope he would be up there in total goals, considering he has been in the playoffs 13 times. he is a .68 ppg in the playoffs and -11 which isnt that great compared to his .78 and +33 in the reg season. if you have watched him you cant argue with his history, he just recently has redeemed himself in sharks fans eyes themselves the last 2 playoff runs – even sharks fans wanted him strung up for his playoff failings a couple years ago.

i dont know about unjustly…this is just what he does…plays well when its reg season and phones it in for the playoffs…thats why he gets “abused” by the “media” (if you count jeremy roenick as media).
