rangers, rangers, rangers, I as a ranger fan would like to see some sixty minutes of hockey from the team, with the flyers missing key players the rangers should of won that game, in the boston game the rangers were flying, they were getting to the puck first and fore checking, with this shorten season thiers no time for slumps, if they donot get some consistance in thier game then this season i thing will be shot .

With a shortened season, any type of slump is reason for concern. A nearly nonexistent preseason has some teams not meshing together yet and playing sloppy. Conditioning for some players might be an issue as well, especially at the end of the periods. A more strenuous week of games with fewer days off which would lead me to think less practice time together due to travel and needed rest. And some divisions just not getting much "rest" due to the physical play and high caliber teams in their division. And finally, any long term injuries (I pray that does not happen to any team) and suspensions to key players all add to major concern for each and every loss. Starting off poorly also has a psychological affect on some players that drives their style of play downward. Any slump during this season is going to make teams play a more "desperation" style game in my opinion, and cause concern for their fans. No team will go undefeated this year and all will be capable of hitting a slump. The key will be how quickly they can get out of it and keep each valuable point coming. Most teams will probably be concerned with securing a playoff spot more than worrying about which seed they will get, as this years shorten season will have all playoff teams playing well and truly any team has a legitimate shot at winning the cup in my opinion.

I see you post on here often and you know your stuff, but, I have to be honest with you, I dont think Philly is a shoe in for the playoffs. That defense is atrocious, I dont think that schenn deal solved a thing. Im not basing this on JVR's big night yesterday, but that kid is a real good hockey player.
Philly has some good young talent but those guys aren't a guarantee to go have monster seasons to carry them.
should be interesting.

Sure its better to be 1-2 then it is 0-3... but is there any point at all in looking at the standings after three games? Does anyone honestly think Winnipeg, Ottawa, or Torronto are going to make the playoffs while the Rangers, Flyers, and Caps all miss them? I highly doubt it. Just like the Kings, who are in last place in the West, are probably not going to miss the playoffs either.

Lets give it at least 12 games (25% of the season) before we start talking conference position. Its just laughably too early for it right now.
