PHT’s Morning Skate takes a look around the world of hockey to see what’s happening and what we’ll be talking about around the NHL world and beyond.

The Colorado Avalanche need forwards Gabriel Landeskog, 20, Matt Duchene, 22, and P.A. Parenteau, 29, to start displaying more on-ice chemistry together on the top line. (Denver Post)

With defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom and forward Tomas Holmstrom retired, the Detroit Red Wings have struggled early on with the man advantage. They haven’t scored a goal in 15 power-play opportunities this season. (Detroit Free Press)

A look at why 23-year-old forward Jamie Benn and the Dallas Stars haven’t agreed to terms yet. The restricted free agent has already missed three games. (The Dallas Morning News)

Chicago Blackhawks forward Marcus Kruger, 22, has impressed coach Joel Quenneville with his defensive play early in his sophomore campaign. (CSN New England)

Tampa Bay Lightning forward B.J. Crombeen has earned plenty of money playing hockey, but he’s already thinking of what he’ll do for a living when it comes time to hang up his skates. The 27-year-old recently completed his business administrations degree through the University of Phoenix. He’s now taking his education a step further with post-graduate classes. (Lightning.nhl.com)

Count the Anaheim Ducks among the teams that have gotten a warm reception from their fans upon the end of the lockout. They will be playing in front of a sellout crowd for their home opener against the Vancouver Canucks on Friday. Everyone that goes to the game will receive a Teemu Selanne T-shirt. (Orange County Register)

The Montreal Canadiens sent 26-year-old Michael Blunden to the minors. The forward earned a spot in training camp, but didn’t get any playing time with the Canadiens during the brief stint. (NHL.com)

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Chris Kunitz, 33, is part of the CCHA All-Decade Team. (Penguins.nhl.com)

Just wait till helm and bertuzzi come back, then the wings will get going

Helm and B will help but poor Howard is having to stand on his head every game cause our D is some horrible patch work.

    Ugh and sigh!

No training camp and short season especially hurt the Wings.

Many personnel positions/situations to figure out and no time to do so.

That said, their core guys need to figure out the power play – Dats, Hank, Mule… it’s up to them. Put Brunner out there with them.
