To the surprise of absolutely nobody that watched the Blue Jackets get blown out by Phoenix last night, Sergei Bobrovsky will be back in the Columbus goal tonight in Colorado.

Bobrovsky was very good during his first two starts, winning once and losing the other in a shootout while registering a .934 save percentage.

The other half of the Jackets’ goaltending due, Steve Mason, got the nod against the Coyotes and surrendered five goals in a 5-1 loss.

Mason didn’t get a ton of help from his teammates last night, but some of it was on him, too.

    Mason is not NHL caliber.

Thank God Bob looks solid so far. Fun with small sample sizes, granted, but he’s had to make some really on-the-ball saves to cover for defensive lapses. Hope he can keep up the good work!

Time to stick a fork in Mason, cause he’s done.

did he yell at the coach?… I mean fan?

When Mason changed his pads a year or two ago, he looked like he’d be set for a comeback. Maybe not (it’s a bit early to tell) but to have goalie Bob bail the Blue Jackets out out won’t be music to Philly fans’ ears.

Well Bryz has actually been good, although I like Bob more. Way more athletic. I’m actually glad Bob is doing well. But it shouldn’t be hard to beat out Mason, he seems like a poor mans Andrew Raycroft.

Curtis McElhinney, Allen York and (eventually) Oscar Dansk waiting in the wings to fill Mason’s bench spot. C’mon, Coach Richards, pick one and let’s get it over with.

As a Flyer’s fan I am glad Bob is doing good. He is a good goalie and deserves an opportunity to play like he is in Columbus. I ain’t saying he is a King Henrik or a Brodeur, but he looks sharp so far. Good luck to Bob and the Blue Jackets. They look pretty good so far besides last night with Mason who sucks!!
