Yeah if the Pens get on the Power Play alot they will crush the Leafs with Neal, Malkin, Crosby, Letang, and Kunitz or Dupuis forget about it.

Agreed, the D needs to be solid in fornt of Reimer for the Leafs to have a chance. Every team needs to stay out of the box against the Pens. That PP is downright scary.

I disagree with your assertion here. I think the best way for the Leafs to contend is to stay out of the Penalty Box. Playing physical and staying out of the box is a VERY hard line to draw.

My bet is to play solid team D, and then try to get some odd man rushes on break outs or when D-Men pinch. Still requires a solid game with Reimer.

If the Leafs play a physical game against the Pens they definitely have a chance to beat them. But Reimer needs to have a solid game to give them a chance.

I would guess that Reimer gets most of the tough starts this year (unless he looks truly awful out there in which case the Leafs have to rethink their situation in goal), so far Ben Scrivens has done well against a team in full rebuild mode and another that missed the playoffs then traded away their top centre in the offseason.

Reimer does have good numbers against the Pens but after a year off this is definitely a head-scratcher, especially with the Islanders coming up on Thursday.
