You assume he is motivated. You hope he is but we have seen many times where some guys don’t have it in them. I do see him helping the Sharks. There is plenty of support around him so there isn’t the pressure of him coming to be the ‘hero.’

The Sharks are competing for a Cup and he has been there. He’s also very motivated to prove he can still play. I say thumbs up.

Because this is a win-win for the Sharks. Either he’s a bust and they let him go without having to cough up much dough, or he gets it done and he’s a steal for a team that need more secondary scoring.

Maybe a change of scenery will do Gomez some good. Also maybe the players the Sharks have like Joe Thorton, Joe Pavelski, Patrick Marleau, Logan Coture, and Ryan Clowe can all take the pressure off of Gomez to score. He might actually get better scoring opportunities to score playing with these players. Something Gomez didn’t have in Montreal.

Ya know he has been so mediocre of late but this deal at that price in a shortened player for a skilled player with tons of potential is pretty much risk free. If he scores 10 goals this was a steal, and hes capable of that even now.

Gomez from the Adams family could help a team more than this stiff. I cant remember any player who skates around so much but does so very little.

Do not forget he gets his full salary this season from Montreal + 770k from the Sharks. Now it all gets prorated based on 48 games. IT does not look like based on early attendance that the player are going to owe any escrow $$. So $4 million from Montreal and $400 k from Sharks not bad for 48 games.

So now he’s only getting paid a couple hundred thousand per goal.
