The Flyers struggles aren’t because they only had 6 days of training camp and are rusty. Then why aren’t the Penguins struggling they also had only 6 days of training camp. Maybe it’s because the Penguins actually have better players than the Flyers.

very intelligent evaluation. It’s two games into a season after a long layoff, six days of training camp, and no preseason games. I expected the Flyers to be rusty and they have been. Doesn’t mean they’re going for the top pick in the draft like some people are wishing. They’re a playoff team.

One decent line? That’s the least accurate comment on this page. The Flyers have three lines that are completely capable of putting up points. Hartnell, Giroux, Schenn; Couturier, Talbot, Voracek; Laughton, Simmonds, Read. And Briere back soon. Not to mention Giroux is, and will be for years, an excellent captain. Even if the Flyers go to 0-3 it doesn’t mean G can’t lead. I understand Pens fans are still bitter because of all the Flyers fans saying Crosby sucks as captain after his childish displays last season, but that in no way means Giroux isn’t qualified. Your opinion isnt credible when based purely on a grudge.

Like I said before it was Adams who was suspended for repeatedly punching Hartnell in the back of the head and Neal and Asham suspended for head-hunting. Prime example of your team being goons. Show me where the Flyers illegal hits were? Glad you finally gave up on the phantom slewfoot that never happened.

it seems the flyers have some early offensive/scoring problems. 3 goals in 2 games. giroux has scored 2 of them. but all the media attention seems to be on the PK…

with the 48 gm season, there is nowhere to hide. all conference games…playing every nite vs teams vying for the same 8 playoff spots. if flyers end jan 2-5 or worse, it could be over before it gets started.

good evaluation, i agree. the defense is dealing with a lot of ‘new.’ right now. Grossmann has seemed off his game a bit, Foster already seems to be settling in.

but can somebody answer why the hell we have Fedotenko on the PK? he’s been baaaad.

From a (somewhat) impartial observer I think its a lack of “gelling” so to speak between the team. Offensive possessions look disjointed at times, and the Defensive pairings don’t have the awareness of one another yet.

The good: that usually works itself out – Flyguys have a talented team and will make the playoffs no question.

The bad: you can’t really force that “gelling”. It just has to come with time and playing together.

The ugly: Lavvy has to resist the knee-jerk reaction of changing up the lines which will harm the chemistry further.
