great idea !Season is far too long , so are the “everyone(except Toronto) gets in Playoff formatt| High ratings also due to curling strike, no fish for ice fishmen, and no student riots in Montreal.

3.3 million viewers in a population of 34.4 million people equals 10.4% of the population. 47 million viewers out of a population of 311.6 million equals about 6.2% of the population. Yeah, I’d say it’s pretty impressive.

Not a bad game. It followed a great Opening Night ceremony in Montreal, featuring such legends as Beliveau, H.Richard and Cournoyer. Habs give great fete! Awesome to see Beliveau back on his feet!

Not going to lie, there probably won’t be a night when I’m not watching hockey from now until June. I doubt I’m alone so I can see CBC and TSN being very happy with their ratings all season. It’s easy enough to resist buying merchandise and tickets but no true Canadian just stops watching hockey.

Maybe this interest will show the league that they should start thinking about cutting the regular season from 82 games to 60 or something, and delaying the start of the season every year!
