Having the Ilitches as owners is our saving grace. They want to win, and actually care about and understand the mentality of Detroit(/Michigan). I can’t believe they’d let the Red Wings spiral out of control.

That being said, how on earth are we supposed to acquire this mythical top D? Look at what we have to offer, plus the fact a majority of teams seem to think they’re our greatest rival and don’t want to trade with us in the first place. We’re stacked at forward for a reason right now, I’ll give you that. But the 3 we’d have to depart with for a top-notch D-man (off the top of my head: Franzen, Helm/Abby/Miller and a high-end prospect for a #2 defenseman and maybe a 2nd rounder plus a random 3rd or AHL guy)… That’s not too pretty.

No reason to hit the panic button just yet, but I think we need to get used to being a little nervous. This team is still trying to figure out its identity it’s not going to be easy.

Not even iffy… he’s a big guy on skates who occasionally and almost accidently gets in the way.

Sorry to sound so negative fellow Wings Fans… but we’ve watched this coming for 3 years. How do those charged with building… totally blow it?

There has been a lot of rumors through the summer about them acquiring a top D, now it is only rumors, but rumors start somewhere and I can see Holland doing something with this team and I hope he does it only it makes sense and I hope it is sooner rather than later.
