Isn’t 29 points high for an NBA scorer to average in a season? I think LeBron averaged one more shot completed a game last season and won MVP.

I watched MANY ‘turn around’ seasons for Carmelo right here in Denver…. or half seasons. Carmelo has a turn around EVERY SEASON… for a little while…

Career points ave- 24. This season – 29…WOW, some improvement…and STILL doesn’t play defense.

He’s a one dimensional player, period. Always has been, including college.

Agreed. People like to blindly bash Ovechkin, forgetting that the Caps went from a team that scored 3.82 goals per game in the 09-10 season to a team that scores 2.67 and 2.66 goals per game. Boudreau was a great coach, but the change in style was too dramatic.

I don’t know which team you’re watching then, because Ovie is skating his butt off every night. The reason why his numbers have been declining is because of injury to those around him (Backstrom and Green) and the switch to a defensive systems (Bruce and Hunter). Boudreau switching to Defense was terrible. The only reason why the offense didn’t work in the playoffs in 09-10, was due to a goalie run of historic proprtions by Jaroslav Halak. Then he hits the panic button like “Oh s***, we cannot do this run and gun anymore, they’ve figured it out!”…. Watch this team thrive under the other AO’s coaching system. Aggressive forecheck, backcheck, and a run and gun offense. Don’t be surprised if Ovie, with help from his superstar teammates NB19 and MG52, that he may get 30-35 Goals.

Ovi is a very good player, but gets bored and shows up when he wants to. Many games he just goes through the motions.

Shorter season will be better for him

Ovechkin = Carmelo Anthony… enjoys the reg season stats/glory but is averse to true Team Work.
