Perhaps you’re right. I mean, the Red Wings did sign Carlo Colaiacovo to replace Lidstrom (a GOAT candidate). Talk about depth, name another defenseman on Detroit beside Kronwall. Turns out Hitch and Army have some intel too: Carlo has already played his best hockey. By the end of last season, he was clearly the Blues’ 5th or 6th best d man.

The Blues D is deep enough without him. Either Redden will be a pleasent surprise and step up or he’ll just get burried in the depth chart.

I’m not saying I disagree with you and the Wings have made their success over the past two decades around smart decisions so it wouldn’t surprise me if they have some “intel” and why they didn’t make an offer (for all we know they did and its not public) but this move really has no way of hurting the Blues.
