but’s the hard part about playing against the Bruins, not only can they beat you up, but they can score on you too (see Lucic, Chara, Horton, Boychuk, Ference, and shoot even Thornton has some nice goals sometimes).

Okay fair enough, Marchand is a big instigator, but he’s far from a goon. He scores 30 goals a season, should be more this year. He does drop the gloves though. He even faught a much bigger P.K. Subban last year twice in the same game. He did fairly well for himself too. Minor institagion techniques like he does doesn’t cause career ending injuries like Siesto does. Marchands hip check on Salo was a bit low, but not that bad, Salo is called the “fragile finn” for a reason. Salo is over 200 lbs and was coming full speed to nail Marchand into the boards, I might have dumped him on his ass to defend myself too. Given the Canucks and Bruins history, I don’t blame him. Too bad he didn’t dump Aaron Rome on his butt, oh wait he wasn’t playing because he’s a goon.

Top 3 team in the east for the past few seasons, 13 players under 25, their two best players/prospects are 19 and 20, and a 25 year old goalie. I wouldn’t say they “suck”, and won’t be anytime in the future. Horton was a huge reason why they won the cup in 11′, or did you stop watching after they swept the flyers? all those game seven game winning goals, overtime GWG’s. I’d say Horton is a big part of their team. And to say “that made my night” is a pretty awful thing to say, I wouldn’t wish a concussion on anyone, not even Sestito.

Well really the flyers only have 4 guys over 30 who play significant roles on the team Briere, Timmonen, Hartnell, and of course Bryz the other guys are kinda depth coaches decision players….what I was alluding to is the flyers who consistently have to draft in the back half of the first round barring a fluke year like 2007 or a trade Carter to Columbus produce better NHL talent then these guys who chronically draft in the top 10 think a few other teams aren’t regretting Sean Couterrier at 8 or Claude Giroux in the 20′s? Certain teams know how to draft like the flyers and to an extent the devils and other teams don’t but you’d never know it by the way their young talent is viewed by these farm system lovers.

Your definition of “key” players is listing… every single player they have under 25. You then list the 10 oldest guys and call that skewing the average. That’s creating the average. That is, to definition, how averages work.

Almost every team in the league can claim what you just claimed, if your definition of “key” is existing…

25 and unders:
ANA: Rakell, Etem, Smith-Pelly, Fowler, Palmieri, Vatanen, Holland, Sbisa, Andersen, Beleskey, Bonino, Cogliano, Ryan
BOS: Hamilton, Seguin, Warsofsky, MacDermid, Lucic, Marchand, Rask (Bourque, Khudobin, Krejci, and McQuaid being 26)
BUF: Grigorenko, Foligno, Hodgson, Myers, Brennan, Ennis, Enroth, Gerbe, Weber

I wasn’t trying to say the Flyers are an old team (though I can see the fanboys are utilizing default hatred of anyone not waiving the right flag high). I just took issue with someone being critical… and then lying to try and use it as some sort of evidence. Almost like you’re doing here. But it’s the internet, arguing will get me nowhere. Fallen on deaf ears.

Yes but those take into account the average age of the team. So players like Timonen, Briere, Fedotenko, Foster, Hartnell, Bryz, Leighton, Shelley, and possibly Pronger (since he’s technically part of the roster) skew the average. But they have a lot of key players 25 and under… Giroux, both Schenns, Couturier, Simmonds, Voracek, Rinaldo, Wellwood, Laughton, Sestito, Bourdon, and Gustafsson. And Matt Read is 26. That’s a ton of youth, even if not all those players are healthy contributors right now.

That depends on how much you want to call “one of”… They rank 16th in the “youngest teams” competition. So bottom half. Granted, pending roster shakeups, they could slide a few rankings… they definitely aren’t THAT young.

About two months ago there was an article on here about how the flyers had the worst farm system in hockey
These guys who do these rankings need to realize the flyers are really good at picking guys who can actually play in the NHL and not live on potential of what they are doing in college or the Swedish elite league or the AHL or whatever even if they where just drafted a few months ago add to the fact their one of the youngest teams in the league already.
