PHT Extra: Penguins vs Flyers, Kings vs Hawks

Jan 17, 2013, 7:28 PM EST

The NHL season will finally begin on Saturday and NBC will be there with NHL Live at 3:00 p.m. ET and Kings’ banner raising followed by regional coverage of Los Angeles versus Chicago (puck drop at 3:25 p.m. ET) and Pittsburgh versus Philadelphia (3:35 p.m. ET).

Both should be great contests as the Kings look to get off to a strong start following their Stanley Cup-winning run while the Penguins and Flyers write the latest chapter of their fierce rivalry.

Watch PHT’s Mike Halford and Jason Brough preview those contests as we get ready for what promises to be an eventful weekend:

If the stars are not aligned for Mr. Universe and Beach Ball Fleury didn’t do enough mind clearing burnouts in his Lambo it could end up being 13-12 Flyers

Re: the Kings, Quick spent the offseason in rehab, did he not? Correct me if I’m wrong there, but I think I remember hearing it. If so, they might have some rust issues early on in goal – and this is a team that lives and dies on Quick’s play, or at least it sure as hell was last year.

Husky, shouldn’t the caps achieve something in the playoffs before their fans start to chirp.?.?.?

  8. steelers88 - Jan 17, 2013 at 8:33 PM

Giroux and Crosby are way better than Ovechkin.

Pens = most overrated team in the NHL

How many points did Malkin have in the playoffs last year again?

  19. antkowiak666 - Jan 18, 2013 at 9:18 AM

NBC really did drop the ball on puck on this one.just because i live in the southwest,i cannot watch the better game here.they should have had the Flyers,Pens game on NBC Sports if they were gonna start two games at the same time.

One of my favorite memories from the winter classic a couple years ago was Pens and Caps fans united in a “Flyers Suck” chant. Everybody hates that classless team.
