I’m surprised at this point that the Islanders still want him to come over. He obviously has no passion to win a Stanley Cup, or he would not have been trying to avoid staying overseas for this long. If you have an ill son, that is unfortunate. However, he still played in the KHL games, and was making a fuss well before the news of his son’s illness came out.

A player like this is obviously through with their NHL passion, and it appears his now lies in being with his family and playing hockey in an area in which he feels more comfortable. Considering he wasn’t that good last year either, if I were the Islanders i’d just cut him loose.

I tend to agree, 19to77. However, if his son is truly ill, I wish him all the best.
I don’t understand why no one wants to go to the Isles. It would seem to me that they feel there is no chance of a shot at the Cup. I personally won’t be surprised if the Isles get in this year, and the Devils start golfing early.

Buddy, before this story broke, he tried using an NTC to stay with Anaheim, his KHL contract to block his NHL contract, and likely half a dozen other tricks to get him out of playing for the Isle. Then, after all else failed, two days after the last hope vanished, this. Forgive us our skepticism, but the stars are aligned. It’s pretty doubtful this was anything purely noble on his part.

Hey a$$ holes, does anyone have any kids? I would put everything on hold for my wife and kids. I been in situations whee one day is good and the next day rips your heart out. As crazy as it sounds-being a dedicated fan-there’s more to life than watching hockey-dik$.

Didn’t seem to be hampering his busy KHL travel schedule, did it? I don’t like to cast doubt in a situation like this, but the timing’s just too suspicious not to. He’s tried literally every other way of getting out of his duties, and THEN this comes up. If it’s true, well, I’m a dick I guess, but timing is everything and it’s clear he’d sooner sell a kidney than play in New York.

If I’m the Islanders I say nothing, then as soon as he reports I suspend him and tell him to go home, see how he enjoys not being able to play anywhere. Or barring that I like the suggestion of putting him on waivers and then sending him to the minors, I wouldn’t let him play in the AHL though, I’d send him to the ECHL affiliate.

Sounds like Visnovsky was mad at having to come to the Island and decided to handle his anger this way. Hopefully the Isles keep him suspended until he reports and dock his salary accordingly. He has embarrassed himself. Don’t see it as reflecting on the Isles at all.

Don’t buy it…

If your son really was that ill, you wouldnt be flying around for the KHL.

Had the KHL not stepped in, he more than certainly would be lacing up the next 2-3 weeks.

Sorry Lubomir, if your son is ill, hope he gets better, but we all know your using it as a scapegoat.

I can’t imagine how any team would want him at this point. He is making this not only embarrassing to himself but also the league and the Islanders. I would wave him and bury him in the minors. Good chance he clears because of this.

This is a bunch of horse-sht and if you believe, I have some magic beans for sale.

If his son was having health issues, this would have come out a long time ago. At this point, stay the fk in Slovakia.
