The only reason he is still in Russia is because the President of the Russian Hockey Federation blackmailed him into staying. At least that is what is believed to had happened. That if he went to the NHL, he would be blacklisted from the Worlds as well as the Olympics in ’14. He’ll be here in the summer of next season, and all will be well

Kuznetsov is a very young man who’s already a husband, a father and one of the KHL’s rising stars. He’s also Russian, meaning so are his family, friends, community and culture. If that was my life, I’d have a lot of reasons to stay home.

Not saying he will, of course. I hope he brings his game to the Capitals. He’s exciting and fun to watch. But there are a lot of good reasons for a guy with his life not to want to just yet. Just something to keep in mind.

Hope I’m wrong, anyway.

I wouldn’t get too excited for Galiev, but I do think Riley Barber is going to impress in a couple years.
