Except there is a difference between being great talent wise, and being a great captain. I admit I think he is one of the best players in the league but that has never made anyone a great captain. (See Ovechkin, Luongo)

Hey jackass, I’m congratulating Giroux on a well-deserved captaincy and you’re calling me a “bandwagon fan”? Would it surprise you if i told you i live in South Jersey, a lot closer to Philly than “Pissburgh”? I honestly didn’t want that 1st round series to end. I’ve liked the Flyers since the Legion of Doom, but I don’t like Chris Pronger. Now all of a sudden that makes me a Pens fan…? It’s no wonder why Philly fans are some of the most hated. Get some facts before you talk sh*t.

It’s funny you call them the “cryers” when your primadonna captain is considered by most the biggest whiner in all of hockey. You’d think Crosby was attached at the hip with the ref the way he follows em around all game. I think your comments hockeywithdrawal have shown who the real classless fans are. Schenns hit was 100% legal, even the nonpartisan commentators and pundits have said so. Meanwhile the Pens had too many illegal hits to count. There’s no justification for cross-checking someones throat or continuously head-hunting just because you’re losing. In that series the Flyers did nothing but get under the Pens skin and then your team showed its true colors. They didn’t throw illegal hits or attempt to injure anyone (with the exception of Rinaldo), but the Pens did. Numerous times. It was painfully obvious to the hockey world that the Penguins were the agressors. It’s time for Pittsburgh to take a look in the mirror because, as I said before, the whole holier than thou act is wearing quite thin. You yourself said you were enjoying the retaliatory actions of your team, which is so classy. I’m absolutely sick of Pens fans acting like their franchise is gods gift to hockey. Get over yourselves and show a little humility once in awhile. Philadelphia has a reputation that has been created and marketed by the national media. Ive been to plenty of Philly sporting events and have never once seen an opposing fan assaulted. Sure there are drunk idiots here, but no moreso than any other city, including Pittsburgh where I guess all opposing fans are welcomed and treated perfectly 100% of the time. Right?? Get off your high horse. You’re the one whose judgements are seriously flawed about this town.

I actually agree the lose of Giroux for the game didnt really hurt the outcome of the series. The 2 busted wrists of Giroux is what his biggest effect on the series was. If he was healthy then maybe I feel different but he wasnt he was hurt and wasnt helping the team much anyway.

WOW!!! I don’t think there could have been more whining and Crosby ball washing in that last comment if you tried. Sindy staying home during the lockout most likely had to do with his fear of getting hurt ( yet again) than anything else. I must say when the announcement of a Flyer being named captain draws over 60 comments half of which are from Pens fans it states one thing. This is THE best rivalry in hockey. I think that is something we can ALL agree on.

You may be the biggest of the A-holes there – and seeing as how ‘there’ is Philly, that’s saying a LOT. The Pens lose their cool against the Cryers because they know them…they’ve played them – been bitten by them in some cases…they’ve been through enough from those snot nosed little mama’s brats. In layman’s terms – they’d had enough. As for the town, it’s comments like yours that really put Philly fans at #1 in most of our books as far as horrible people go. Oh yeah – and there’s the little manner of fans of other teams being assaulted in your arenas and stadiums for wearing other jerseys, the outright hypocrisy of someone like Neal having enough of people like Rinaldo and acting in a retaliatory manner. Smart? No…but to be honest I’ve had enough of watching the Cryers myself, so I was enjoying the h*ll out of it. When Schenn got cross checked in the throat…that could have been tragic…but seeing as how – once again – it was his own illegal and dirty hit that sealed his fate in that, and the fact that he wasn’t seriously injured, it was outright JUSTICE.

For your record – Crosby’s a great hockey player and Gretzky was not well liked when he was in the league. People in Pittsburgh don’t worship Crosby – we respect what he does for this town, on the ice and off, and what he does for hockey. Case in point it was Crosby that was helping seal a deal for the league while Claudia was overseas playing with himself. He’s all about himself – Crosby’s all about hockey – so it only makes sense.

You have the town wrong, in all your judgements – but then again folks from Philly don’t really care about right and wrong when choosing sides. And intelligence and common sense don’t seem to be a concern before you open your mouths. Nothing good comes from Philly – nothing.

G’s concussion lasted not even two weeks……Crosby’s lasted a year and a half……he’s one hit away from being a 25 year old former hockey player with gold medals and lots of crying on his resume. Pen’s fans are Turn coats. Flyers fans are dedicated win, lose or whatever. I Love that Pen fans always talk about how classless Philly is and dirty. I guess I would feel that way if I lived in the second city of the state and not what the state is known for, Philly. What is Pittsburgh even known for besides ” Steel”?? Anything else of importance??

Here is the attendance from 2005-06 – http://espn.go.com/nhl/attendance/_/year/2006 – they finished the year with 58 points and the last place team had 57. Yet the arena had over 90% of the seats sold. The Penguins have really only had one year of bad attendance and it was the year leading into the lookout. Since 2000 they have only averaged less than 14,750 fans once. Look up that roster and tell me if you would spend money on that product in 03-04. The best players was some bum named Dick Tarnstorm or something like that. The threat of moving had zero to do with fan support as they were sellout a lot of their game at that time. It had everything to do with politics/needing a new arena.

Briere over G? I like the guy, but he’s irrelivant until the playoffs. Your captain has to bring it every nights. Never been Briere’s thing.

On the roster, the only other choices were Tims, who wasn’t going to happen because they want a long term C,and his career is winding down, and Talbot, who has only been here a year, and didn’t even have a A last year

The term “Pens Fans” should be the one used loosely as you all deserted your now beloved franchise when they were the worst team in the league. Philadelphia fans support for the Flyers has never wavered. As for concussions, I really wish people would stop using it as an insult. I mean I hate Crosby but I don’t want him to get hurt, let alone get a concussion. With the number of careers ending bc of concussions I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I’d much rather beat the Pens with Crosby and I’d hope Pens fans would feel the same about Giroux and the Flyers.
