I played against Thomas Hickey growing up and he’s not special. He’s skilled offensively but small and is a defensive liability. There is a reason why a once team captain for Canada at the World Jr. tournament has never played a game in the pros even despite being a top 5 pick in the draft. Bust.

I like this move, Garth has a good eye. If this guy can turn it around anywhere LI is the best place to be. And hes only 23.

I think the Hickey pickup is a good one.
He never got a chance in LA because of the Kings depth at the blueline, but I remember watching him during the world junior tournament..I think it was 06 or 07. He was the captain of the Canadian team and looked really good.
Injuries have derailed his career since.

Agreed, doesn’t appear to have been claimed. But odd they wouldn’t have room for Wishart if they hope to have room for Hickey. Again, just needing a different player it seems.

Isles have also claimed former first rounder Joe Finley from Buffalo and now the KHL has said it will honor the Visnovsky contract, so the Isles should be solid on D.

The Isles sent Wishart down on waivers, then claimed Hickey. Different players I suppose.
