Ducks sign enforcer Létourneau-Leblond

The Anaheim Ducks signed elaborately named enforcer Pierre-Luc Létourneau-Leblond to a one-year, two-way deal on Tuesday.

To some extent, one expects him to fill the pugilistic (though sadly not the mustache nor Ivy League reference) hole left behind by George Parroswho is now a member of the Florida Panthers.

The man conveniently called “PL3″ might not be the same fixture in Anaheim that Parros was. Again, it’s a two-way deal and OC Register’s Eric Stephens notes that Létourneau-Leblond is already on his way to the AHL.

The new Ducks fighter isn’t likely to light up the scoreboard, so instead he has two claims to “fame.”

For one thing, he was the target of Brendan Shanahan’s first suspension video, as Puck Daddy pointed out.

Personally, his real claim to fame came from fighting Cam Janssen for what felt like a life time in this memorable March 2010 scuffle:

Maybe he doesn’t have that Parros ‘stache, but it seems like he can make an impression – sometimes negative – nonetheless.

I love tough physical play, but I’m not a fan of these fights that just go on forever. It kills any energy that it puts into a game before the scrap is even over! Janssen rarely fights without waving off the refs….

Janssen’s strategy is to let his opponent tire themselves out and hurt thier hands punching him in the head for at least 1 minute before he actually starts to fight.

(though sadly not the mustache nor Ivy League reference)

Seeing as you’re referencing Ivy League education, you should really say (though sadly NEITHER the mustache nor Ivy League reference)

Sadly, I don’t have an Ivy League (or otherwise respectable) education. So I’m not sure whether one or the other is correct…however, I certainly know that using “neither” followed by “not” sounds so much more edu-ma-cated

What happens when Pierre-Luc Létourneau-Leblond gets married to high brow feminist Susie Smith-Jones. WHat the devil are the kids going to be named? Where does the madness end.

This is why you stick with normal names.

Fathers last name = kids last name. (Or mothers, but pick ONE).

PL3 instigated with the Caps in a blowout loss for the Devils by cheapshotting someone late in the game. He never dressed again and Lou traded him out to Calgary within days. Lou, as always, is the man. Devils consistency through the years despite coaching changes and captain changes starts and ends with Lamoriello’s vision for this team’s personality and professionalism.
