Please NO more trades, bring up the kids up, JT Miller and others. I concur, the team is well built with depth. In a few years, you can trade a veteran defenseman for a load of young prospects and stay within the CAP numbers. Dylan M. should be ready then if not itching to come up. It's a great situation, not mortgaging the future away. The only thing we really need now is a young goaltender prospect, that we can bring up in three or four years from now to split playing time for the King to keep him fresh in the playoffs.

Actually, the Rangers have quite a bit of cap space left. Going by capgeek, they have $2,141,666 left after their latest additions of Del Zotto and Gilroy. That doesn't sound like much. but thats with 25 players on the roster, which is going to be cut down before the season starts (has to be cut to at least 23, and can be as low as 20).

First and foremost, Sauer will be placed on IR and his $1.25 million will come off the cap, and then you would think at least one more defensemen will be sent down (Gilroy will probably stay in Hartford), dropping at least another $650k off the cap. They are also heavy one forward, which will probably see Micheal Haley playing in Hartford, and another $600k off the cap. Its also possible another defensemen will be sent down, but the way Torts like to play musical defensemen on the 3rd pair I doubt it.

So in the end when the season starts the Rangers will probably have $4.5 million in cap space... which isn't awful.

This team is scarily well-built. It looks like the 2011 Canucks in terms of insane depth, but with a much bigger, harder-working lineup and the reigning Vezina-winning gamebreaker in net.
