As for your argument, right after you said ‘I think it’s kind of a slap in the face if you don’t make him ‘C’’, you immediately followed that with ‘The dude is your best player (no longer Marty, IMO) and he gave his all last year and if you don’t give him the C again, that’s two years in a row they pass on him. You paid him top dollars, make him your C’.

Your reasoning for giving Kovy the C was, in fact, because he is the best/highest paid player. So maybe you don’t really comprehend your own arguement. Once you revisit the Kessel comment considering your revised arguement (you’re welcome by the way), I think it will make a bit more sense.

Minnesota model? Koivu isn’t the highest player, was when he was the captian but now is the 4th, so what was your point?.

Again, I wasn’t saying the highest player automatically gets the C, or deserves it but there is a point why those guys make the most and usually end up with it…Best player, more money, usually leads to the C. Not an exact science but easy to connect the dots with…. and if you read posts before the one you had to chime in on, maybe the whole argument makes more sense… Your Kessel comment does not apply once you can comprehend my argument. I do not know the percentage but I am guessing the highest payed skater per team is more than a 50% ratio for them wearing the C throughout the league or was the highest paid at one point.

The Devils should be doing everything in their power to keep him happy. Kovy can make more money and potentially be happier back home in Russia than he maybe in the states, the thought of awarding him the C isn’t too bad of an idea,…

Well Well Well Now we will see how DeBoer and Stevens will fix this mess in the locker room. Kovy plays with heart and soul. He first came here and droped Sean Avery when avery was chirping to Marty. He’s dropped them when the team needed a spark, vs Washington. He’s dropped them in Phily when Rinaldo slewfooted Parise (Brayden Schenn took that KO punch).

The guy has shown team camaraderie from day 1. I have no doubt, that knowing Elias this long, Kovy knows what Elias was really saying . It’s true, it’s not OK. Unless management gave him permission.

Kovy better get off to a good start. He’s in more game shape than anyone in the league now.
