What are you talking about? The last time there was a shortened season (1995-95) they went 22-23-3. Not that it matters anyway, no one is on the team from 18 years ago.

I hope he has a bad year… If not i think the rangers may be near impossible to beat.
Lets not forget how the rangers always burn out toward the end of the year and how great they do in shortened seasons

bakar I agree- the isles have a great core of young players and more solid p[ayers who could be called up from the AHL and various other leagues, so a run at the playoffs is not out of the question. The Isles have been subject to cold streaks that bury their season (usually in November for some reason) so if they can avoid that, they could be in business.

If Visnosky doesn’t report, there defense could be what keeps them out of the playoffs (they’re thin to begin with). Also, as the article mentions, RDP looked absolutely atrocious in the few games he played last year so hopefully he can turn it around and Nabokov can stay healthy

Great goaltender, but just shut up and play!
I don’t know of many goaltenders who were able to play during the lockout. Everyone’s going thru the same thing. Suck it up and do the best you can for your team. If you suck and your team doesn’t make the playoffs, nobody’s going to want to hear the excuses.

Now, on a more serious note, the youthful Islanders may surprise a lot of people in a short season. They have, for the past couple of seasons, started pretty well but faded as the season progressed. If Rick does stay healthy, they could have two strong goalies and quite a few guys that can score. They may be the biggest surprise of all this shortened season!

The King will be just fine. At the Sandy Relief charity game, he made 56 saves and was driving team Hartnell nuts (in a no defense shinny game). Scott himself said the Rangers probably wish they were back already.
All he needs is true competition and he’ll have his edge back. He’s just trying to lower expectations because after winning a Vezina with a .937 save percentage, he needs to do that.

One of the greatest goalies in the game, he knows he will be fine. He’s just down playing his game. It’s going to take all players some time to get up to speed, except for the Habs that is lol.

I hope you’re being sarcastic because you’re simply out of your mind if you think Dipietro is going to somehow out play Lundqvist. Hell, Dipietro will probably get hurt AGAIN, especially with a shortened more intense campaign.

Well, the good thing about Lundqvist is that even when he isn’t at his best he’s still better than 75 percent of the goalies in the NHL.
