We’re not talking about issues of national security. If you followed this story at all, everyone knew it was a neck injury the day it happened. Big deal.

The part in which Ovechkin said. . . anything. He didn’t need to gossip. Why did he need to talk? When the Caps personnel are allowed to talk to the press this weekend, they should be the ones, in consultation with Backstrom, to decide what information to release.

If you followed Backstrom’s injury last year, you’d know that nothing was released about the injury. No symptoms. Nothing. I’d imagine that it was at Backstrom’s request, since he seems to treasure his privacy. Even after his recovery, Backstrom said nothing about his symptoms to the media.

I realize that it’s not in Ovechkin’s nature to forgo media attention, but just this once he could have thought about how his teammate might feel about it.

What part of Ovechkin’s comment bothered you so much?

The personnel aren’t allowed to talk about his injury, and may not even be able to look at him under CBA is signed. OV was there when Backis was injured. Big deal, he said nothing.

I’m a Caps fan who wishes that Ovechkin, for once, would have shut up and let qualified Caps’ personnel talk about Backstrom’s injury. Would a “no comment” have been too much too ask, especially considering that a very private person like Backstrom might have preferred it? But, no, Ovechkin always wants to be the center of attention, even when it’s not about him at all.

This is one team that can’t afford any mishaps out of the gates. Lets all remember the shots players were taking at each other during the lockout. They need to gel as a team quickly, however, they lack a true captain to help with the process. This is going to be a rough start for Oates. Will he be able to bring the team together in only 48 games?

as a Bruins fan I could be kind of happy about this but having him on my fantasy team is a big blow…anytime they say neck it makes me think concussion…
