Sour grapes turning to whine watermelon1. Ovi deserves the calls against him as he likes to run at people and Ovi doesn’t skate hard enough to draw the calls against him anymore. Everyone knows Ovi’s move and he is yet to prove he is no more than a one trick pony.
There is one thing we can all agree on is that Ovi looks like Darwins “Missing Link”.

I think the interference, obstruction, and cheap shots that have been allowed to creep back into the league are the only things that are sketchy. Last year was ridiculous.

Now you can offer that inteference is the only way to slow guys down in todays game because two line passes are now allowed. BUT

1.) Maintaining a decent gap when playing defense is different than paying no attantion to the puck and playing the man until he is out of the play.

2.) The slashing to the hands of any player within 10 feet of the net is garage league type stuff.

3.) The hooking and holding is something any bush league player can perfect. If a player gets beat and he hooks or holds a guy, the penalty has to be called.

The majority of people pay good money to watch the most skilled, hardest working guys on the planet do things that the averge hockey player couldn’t. Don’t confuse sketchy calls with legit penalties.

He doesn’t get penalties for hitting too hard, he gets them for jumping every time he goes for a big hit.

The reason scoring has declined is because the NHL mandated that nothing be called against people who foul Ovechkin.

The guy gets molested constantly and nothing is called. Then he hits someone too hard and he gets sent to the box.

48 game season? Better believe every game will be “managed” NBA-style. The most critical games will be called directly from the commisioner’s office. Brace yourself for some sketchy, sketchy calls.

If they call games like they did right after the last lockout there’s going to be more powerplays than even strength time for sure. Everyone else, don’t you dare even look at Crosby, it’ll be two minutes.
