It seemed McQuaid did need help when Weise was going to fight him in the 2011 SCF. Thornton thought it best to step in and help him out that time, even though Weise had already fought earlier in the game. Thornton admitted afterwards (or was it Marchand that let the secret slip?) he was trying to trick Weise into fighting even though he knew Weise and McQuaid were looking to go.

Haha. I like Lapierre but I’m going to agree with this. Maybe it’s just part of the routine but he seems to enjoy getting under opponents skin a little too much to give it up for good.

Lapierre was second in fights with 7 last year for the Canucks, and has one career suspension – 4 games for a boarding infraction when he played for Montreal, so I’m going to disagree with you based on those numbers.

I know Cooke was able to change his game last year, but i think it will be a lot tougher for Lapierre. At least Cooke would drop the gloves when he needed to, Lapierre still has a lot he has to stand up for in my opinion, and players on other teams will be trying to get under his skin more than ever.

You don’t have to like him (who liked Esa Tikkanen for instance, but everyone would have loved him on their team in his prime), but he is good at what he does.

Obviously a grating guy but he’s a good possession player who always sticks up or his liberates, even if he’s a piss poor fighter. Canucks would be foolish to not give him more time (hopefully become a fixture on the third line). Doubt his mouth will be shut once tempers flare though.
