Stars’ eventual new uniforms will be “drastically different”

Dallas Stars owner Tom Gaglardi’s declaration that his team will have a new look in the near future is coming to fruition.

Mike Heika of The Dallas Morning News reports the team has gotten an extension to submit new uniform designs for the team to use in the 2013-14 season and the look they’re going for will be quite different than what they’ve got now. Heika lists off three things that will surely be part of their new look.

1. The jerseys will be drastically different from their current look.

2. They’ll have a new logo.

3. Green will be the dominant color.

Sight unseen, these all seem like great ideas for a team that’s got, arguably, one of the most drab appearances in the NHL. Their current home and road jerseys just read “DALLAS” across the front and the team’s logo has been relegated to the shoulders. The logo itself is pretty plain and in recent years they’ve used black and gold more dominantly than green.

It’s just an aesthetic change for a team that’s been in transition the last few seasons, but hey, sometimes success comes with a new look. Just ask the Anaheim Ducks.

They need to go back to how they were when they won the Cup in 1999.

I’m not a fan of all these changes. Vancouver switching to Green and Blue was just weird.

Dallas should model their new jerseys after the old MN Northstars! maybe a D instead of the N?

As a Minnesotan who was too young to remember the Northstars leaving town, even I would consider that a complete slap in the face. People around here are still not over it.

Are those the same people that didn’t show up to northstars games even after they went to the finals? Sorry but you lost your team for a reason.

More importantly, what do you sources tell you about the changes?
My guess, they are saying the Stars are going with plaid with pink stripes.

Dallas shouldn’t have a hockey team. Who the cares about a new sweater?

awwww i see 1999 still hurts you buffaloser fans

Would a fleur-de-lis be too radical a change?

  4. misterchainbluelightning - Jan 6, 2013 at 7:47 PM

They should drop the green, copy Cowboy colors, White Silver and Blue. Of course I’d love to see them go a lil south of Dallas an adopt the Longhorn colors of Burnt Orange and White. But that may be too much like the Flyers.

    • zetaone - Jan 6, 2013 at 10:16 PM

White and blue? Like half of the NHL?

      • misterchainbluelightning - Jan 7, 2013 at 1:00 AM

And silver, don’t forget the silver

Another Minnesota fan here who can’t handle not having our classic lime green n gold color scheme along with our classic Name ripped away!! if any body should change there design it’s the WILD away jersey!! How about a nice singled out W with a star over it like the old N sweater ? It sells tons of apparel for the Washington nationals ? Kudos to the city of Winnipeg for doing it right. Go wild go

  6. northstars17 - Jan 6, 2013 at 8:32 PM

the Wild jerseys definitely suck.. but so does their franchise so who really cares… take your complaining to the man who stole your team, Bettman.

No doubt the Northstars were def. the best, but they moved to Dallas 20 years ago, if you haven’t accepted it yet you never will.

    • comeonnowguys - Jan 6, 2013 at 10:40 PM

I’m not a fan of three-color jerseys (current Wild/90’s Blues), but the green thirds with the gold script are strong.

Outside of when they first moved to Dallas, their jerseys have pretty much sucked, especially that weird star pattern they wore around the time they won the cup.

northstars17 Are you going to enjoy the season? Yeah thought so.

  7. lordfletcher - Jan 6, 2013 at 9:30 PM

damn it …. they’re going to green.. I was hoping my Wild would make the move to green in the next 5 years or so….

Dallas just keeps pissing me off more and more

  8. rgledz - Jan 6, 2013 at 11:59 PM

They can’t use anything that has anything to do with the North Stars. They don’t have rights to the name, logo or uniform’s. The NHL holds those rights and the Wild should stop being so stupid and ask the league for permission to use the “N” logo as an alternate. By the way….it’s Kelly green, not lime green for crying out loud…….and Hull’s foot was in the crease in ’99. Now I’ll get a response from one of 5 Dallas Stars fans.

  9. greatminnesotasportsmind - Jan 7, 2013 at 12:26 AM

Maybe their new radical idea should be to change their name to either the Dallas ________ or the Texas _________. Give Minnesota the Stars name back.

    Minnesota North Stars.

Their old jerseys were so bad, they were good

    • spiciercheez - Jan 7, 2013 at 10:11 AM

Why not call Dallas the South Stars and give MN the North Stars back? Kinda like Red/White Sox. I guess I don’t really care about Dallas but I would love to see MN called the North Stars again!

  10. tcwhpgh - Jan 7, 2013 at 2:11 AM

a: Buffalo get over it. Foot was in the crease, but still a good goal by any common sense standards.
b: At least dallas got rid of that jersey that looks like a uterus constellation.
c: Thanks to buyouts maybe the Wild can cut loose Parise and or Suter after over paying them both.

I will never accept or get over it! I still love the wild , and just cause they call it Kelly green don’t mean it’s Kelly green . The point is we need a new away sweater concept like the newly introduced green sweater. period. Go wild
