Name even one example when mediation worked in pro sport labor disputes. It is obviously a waste of time. Why else would players revote to disclaim the union?

Listen folks, going by Tweets? First off… God help you. Second, that’s what these clowns get PAID to do is report. Sure some of them are fans like you and I, but they are paid to report what they believe is going on. I know everyone WANTS to stay optimistic, but its just not going to happen at this point. But as far as the reporting goes right now… Don’t look for too many to start sealing the lid on the soon-to-be cancelled season quite yet. Reporters and insiders are also fighting for their jobs during these times.

I genuinely feel bad for all the fans that have had to go through this circus the last 3 months. but don’t worry its almost over… that’s the good news. The league never planned on starting the season after December, and the NHLPA knew this.

Actually as the day went on, Dreger and the other guys over at TSN seemed to grow slightly more optomistic going by their tweets. Sure its not great that both sides didn’t want to meet in person, but we also learned that they both have room to move on key issues… which is, no matter how you look at it, good news.

The sides can kick and scream and act like children all they want right now… but I refuse to believe that either side will be willing to lose the season over the rather small issues remaining. A deal gets done, and we have a 48 game season. If not, I’ll probably spend a day banging my head off my desk… because thats the response a lost season will deserve at this point.
