CBA update: NHLPA makes another propsal, meetings to resume tonight

Jan 2, 2013, 3:54 PM EDT

Donald Fehr

Make it four.

That was the story after the NHLPA exited its meeting with the NHL on Wednesday, as union boss Donald Fehr told reporters the PA made yet another CBA proposal.

For those keeping track, that is the fourth proposal exchanged between the league and players’ union over the last six days.

Some additional CBA notes to pass your way:

TSN’s Darren Dreger reports meetings will resume tonight around 8 p.m. ET, presumably after the NHL has gone over the PA’s latest propsal.

— Dreger also notes player pensions remain an issue. “PA wanted NHL to share pension cost,” he tweeted. “Perhaps bigger issue: team’s ongoing liability to pay the pension after CBA expires.”

Fehr wouldn’t comment on the possibility of the union filing a disclaimer. The NHLPA has until midnight ET to decide.

— The NHLPA’s executive committee is scheduled to have a conference call later today to discuss the disclaimer issue.
