CBA update: Sides push meeting time back to 9 p.m. ET

Jan 1, 2013, 8:22 PM EDT

Donald Fehr: AP

Rather than convening at 7 p.m. ET as initially expected, multiple outlets report that the NHL and NHLPA will instead kick things off at 9 p.m. ET.

What does that mean? ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun reports that the league needs more time to “complete its response” to the union’s counter-offer.

Hopefully the reasoning truly is along the lines of due diligence and not a stall tactic, as some have worried.

Ultimately, it seems there are two things that are certain: news-eager onlookers probably should stock up on caffeine for the night and reporters are likely to shiver in the cold New York weather as they await the results.

On our end, PHT will keep watch over the situation from our undisclosed, warm blogger lair. (Go ahead, make the basement jokes. We’ve got some time to kill.)

This was in reference to someone plugging their own website, since removed, not at James

Wait.. There are actual moderators here? Would have fooled me.

      • hockeyflow33 - Jan 2, 2013 at 12:36 AM

Someone was posting gay porn on here earlier so that may have helped to get a moderator.

So Bettman CAN actually use a computer… Who knew?

  3. hockeyflow33 - Jan 1, 2013 at 8:46 PM

Ugh, can people stop plugging their terrible blogs?

  4. jimw81 - Jan 1, 2013 at 8:52 PM

i guess bettman & crew wanted to see the end of the rose bowl and atleast first quarter of orange bowl.

I’m gonna go ahead and demand that they STOP USING THAT PICTURE OF FEHR. Kill it with fire, and let us never speak of it again.

    • zetaone - Jan 1, 2013 at 9:17 PM

I giggle a little bit every time I see it, and know why they use it. It makes me think of James William Bottomtooth from Family Guy.

    • shotzongoal - Jan 2, 2013 at 1:42 PM

I couldn’t agree with you more. That pic needs to be buried in a nuclear waste site.

  6. charleslouis99 - Jan 1, 2013 at 9:13 PM

most importantly, will the infamous podium make an appearance tonight?

    • whatthepuck2012 - Jan 1, 2013 at 9:47 PM

I don’t giggle at all. Important parts of me die a little each time I see it.

      • whatthepuck2012 - Jan 1, 2013 at 9:47 PM

        Referring to James William Bottomtooth…sorry!

      • zetaone - Jan 1, 2013 at 10:07 PM

Why? It’s a funny picture, they do it with Bettman too…

        Settle down.

      • whatthepuck2012 - Jan 1, 2013 at 11:22 PM

Calm down, I was joking. Yes, it’s a funny picture…there’s nothing unfunny about Family Guy!

the NHL is a big joke.

I passionately will be sitting back watching fans boycott games once/if they resume.

I will no longer buy anything will the NHL hologram, and I suggest you as well.
