All of the players salarys are not that bloated I still think the players should have been in front of the stadiums with pickets in there hands and standing in front of fire barrels to stay warm. At least they would have kept the backing of the fans.The only people that are loosing out are the fans because they think that we will just jump right back watching our game that we love so much.
I allways backed the players but then I start hearing about comm ents on how some of the Nashville players hoped they would stay in there own countries, if they could make the money there, they would never play in the N.H.L. I say let them stay If it wasn’t for T.V. there wouldnt be a lot of southern teams in the N.H.L.

Equally amazing is how the players have put their foot up the fans ass and show no remorse for doing so. After all, it is the fans that pay their fat, and many cases over bloated salaries. Have you noticed those players who stop caring about the fans after they sign the fat juicy contract and cruise along until they get to the last year of their contracts?

Seeing the blind sheep here predicting all sorts of outcomes while the owners are on plan for a shortened season to begin in Jan (as only you predicted they had a plan….. so what that you were off by a month) is so anticlimactic.

That shouldn’t come as surprise. There are only few hard-line owners left and moderate owners don’t want to lose this season because it’s not worth it considering that they already got the 50/50 split they were looking for.

My concern is Mr. Fehr is waiting until the last moment to make a deal. The PA will ostensibly check every nook and cranny of the NHL proposal but delay until the pressure of a canceled season or desertification is imminent.

What I do not understand is why? The league will not give up anymore dollars. Every concession the NHL has made has been in conditions other than the 50/50 guaranteed payment based on revenue. Since the players missed $750 M of salary so far, what is the point of Fehr risking the season for things like length of the CBA agreement, contract term limits and such? I hope he knows better or we will lose a season.

Ravenscaps – I wouldn’t doubt it that people like you, Joey and others have legitimate sources who provide information. It’s perfectly plausible and besides, what would be the big deal? As for me friend, my sources are nothing more than my very own eyes and ears … and perhaps a dash of experience. You just watch how these phonies play this out now over the coming days. I truthfully wish it hadn’t come to this, as I don’t like the “48 game” concept one bit. But apparently that’s what we’re going to get, whether we like it or not.

They haven’t really. Their “new” offers have been altered insignificantly. They (for better or worse) are sticking to their guns. The players better open their eyes and realize this.

I doubt that will happen at this point since there is simply no time left. The simple fact that they came back with concessions after saying their offer was completely off the table just a couple weeks ago is a big deal. It means the owners don’t want to lose the season, or go down the dark and uncharted road of a court battle.

On the flip side, Fehr can’t keep playing the role of a moving target. There comes a point where he has to be happy with getting more concessions then a lot of people ever expected, and stop coming up with new demands every time the owners give in on something. Thats my fear this time around. Fehr might smell blood and go for more, perhaps demanding things he didn’t demand before…. and that will not go over well with the owners.

Is that the guy on TV wearing the headset and promoting that cleaning device? I have to level with you man … every time I see that freak I begin to seriously entertain violent thoughts? Look, here’s the deal. Given a January 19th start date @ 1500 hrs EST, they can’t announce anything sooner than 2 weeks prior. So that basically means that there’s still a little more time to kill, though not so much now. At any rate, my best guess is that “the announcement” will be made this coming week, perhaps as early as Friday Jan 4th or Saturday Jan 5th. If they did it beforehand, then the entire stunt would become so obvious that even the sheep would start hearing alarm bells!

Meetings are “informational”? For the love of Conn Smythe…what more information do they need? Vince from Sham-wow is “informational” (it’s made by the Germans and you know they make good things)…after months and months of this, what more information could they need? Owners can’t just walk away from counter proposal and say their offer was ‘take it or leave it’. They have done that several times already and have always come back to the table.
