Namriverrat69 - Great to hear from you friend as it's been a while ... probably as far back as June when we showed these guys who's boss eh ? :) Yes indeed, you are an "original" if ever there was one ! Just one thing about Dan Maloney though. It was common knowledge back then among the players that he was one guy to be avoided at all cost. Instead of the rock'em-sock'em style of fighting prevalent at that time, Maloney would engage his opponent and essentially "execute" him with one or two lethal blows. It was so deadly you almost cringed whenever he dropped the gloves, which actually wasn't that often. In fact, he was offered a pro boxing contract at one point but he declined. Take it easy friend and enjoy the raising of our glorious SC banner ! :)

As angry as I am over this lockout, I know I will be back in my season seats as soon as they start playing again, whenever that is. As a fan for over 40 years and season ticket holder for close to 30, I will always be there whatever. I'm in love with the sport.

Ironically I saw my first game on a small TV (a Stanley Cup Finals game tape delayed 3 weeks after Boston won in 1971) in Vietnam at Tan Chau on the Cambodian border with a Minneapolis buddy who explained the rules to me. When I came home to Tucson and eventually landed in LA, I started going to games and was sold on the sport. The first game I saw was Boston/LA. Terry O'Reilly started 2 fights with Dan Maloney, got his butt kicked both times and still talked smack. Dan Maloney didn't lose many fights back then. The intenstiy, skill and checking and all that is hockey is what sells.

The only good part of all this is that my partners and I are receiving 5% interest on our money until they start to play. Try getting that in a bank.

I still look forward to the first game and hearing them announce "Ladies and gentlemen, your Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings!" and the hanging of the banner, and getting their championship rings. What a great night that will be - someday - this season - next - whenever.

I don't mean this as a cheap shot at you personally, #3bettman..., but until the owners and players and league actually feel some pain in the form of fans boycotting them and their product, simply stated, they don't care. Same thing happened in baseball, same thing happened in football, same thing happened in basketball: as soon as the season started up again, even if dramatically abbreviated, the fans still show up as if nothing has happened. If the fans didn't show up, if the fans didn't watch on TV, if the fans stopped buying jerseys and other team products (all of which will never happen obviously), maybe then sports teams owners and the athletes themselves will finally get the message. Like I said, though, it'll never happen, because fans are like sheep, waiting to be led to the slaughter, then willing going. I'd much rather watch college sports than pro sports, personally. Especially football. This Sunday, I'll have ONE option to watch an NFL game at 1p ET. On any given Saturday, I can watch any one of 15 college football games at 1p ET.

The owners and players have basically told the fans to drop dead. Shut up and wait for us to feel like reaching an agreement, then come back like good little sheep when we're good and ready to play. I say to hell with them. I hope they all lose their shirts. Hockey deserves better. Fold this miserable excuse for a "professional" sports league and start fresh in a few years with new franchises and new leadership. The NHL will never get out of its own way. Does anyone honestly think that we won't be in the same position when the next CBA expires? They're hopeless. It's like having a screwup kid. You love them, but at some point, it's time to say "Enough's enough" and cut them off.

If this was done by the initial November 1st deadline you could have enjoyed Thanksgiving and Christmas with your families.
What has Bettman done?
Commish'ed the league to record revenues while all other professional sports (save NFL) have declined in past 5 years.
What has Fehr done?
Fed the players lies about how they are being treated unFerhly in this CBA (guess what Ron Hainsey - you can thank Bettman for your $4m a year - not Fehr).

Hey Fehr....you and your counterpart Bettman have ruined hockey for me (read: both of you suck). For f***s sake; you've alienated the NHL fanbase while owners and players are arguing over how much richer each group can be; you take me on a rollercoaster of emotions thinking we're going to have a season then taking 5 steps backwards and cancelling games left and right; not to mention the businesses that are getting screwed over because of the revenue typically generated by hockey fans. This fiasco has numbed me to a sport that I have loved and lived for. Every fall I got excited, sure its gonna snow, sure it'll be cold than a witches tit on the south side of a mountain, but at I could watch hockey. Now the best I can hope for is getting up to half mast from watching replays of games in the past or play NHL 13 (yes it really bothers me that despite how much you're f***ing with the fans I still support the NHL).

This guy can no longer be believed.

How can he come out and say they will work the holidays to get a deal done if they haven't done squat in the past 8 days (which were not holidays, by the way)?
