Good luck trying to move him. He has a monster contract that was based entirely on one 30 goal season, and hes clearly a problem in the locker room. I doubt there will be many takers, especially after the disaster that was his brief KHL trip.

Yeah its not just the fact he brings his girlfriends along… there are a lot of other problems that surround Kane, the gf thing just being one example.

There is also a massive difference between you taking a business trip, and an NHL player going to play an away game. NHL players are functioning as employees the entire time they are on the trip. From the second you get on the plane (paid for by the team), to the moment you land back home you are working. Even just hanging around the hotel room (also paid for by the team) you are on the teams payroll… and such down times on road trips can be some of the best times to build team cohesion. Thus there are rules (writen or otherwise) that are expected to be followed.

Thats almost certainly not the case for you when you go on a business trip.

When you go on business trips where you would bring your spouse with you, do other people you work with come along? Do you all travel together like an NHL team would? Along with your boss (GM) and supervisor (coach)?

If you answered yes to all of those, then good for you, but I highly doubt it would be the case where it’s generally acceptable practice unless it’s a trip specifically designated as such.

This latest little blowup, while perhaps not much on its own, confirms a long standing pattern of behavior for Kane. Guys like that divide dressing rooms, and unless they are scoring 50 goals and 100 points, they aren’t worth the headache. He’ll be moved when, or if, hockey starts again.

While I would respect team policy, what is the big deal?

I go on business trips all the time for my dealership and bring my spouse along. I’ve never once been unable to keep my head where it needs to be during any meeting or negotiation because she’s in town.

It’s not like his girlfriend is on the bench or in the locker room…
