Malkin admits he misses Crosby

Evgeni Malkin allowed a little bromance to sneak into the typical lockout and overseas play discussion on Thursday, admitting that he misses Pittsburgh and Sidney Crosby.

He also told RT.com that the KHL has been awaiting Crosby’s arrival.

“Everybody’s waiting for him here,” Malkin said. “I know that his agent called [Metallurg’s general manager, Gennady] Velichkin. But no decision has been made yet. Crosby has pretty big insurance. I don’t know how they’ll resolve this issue.”

Here’s the “aww” quote about him missing playing with Sid the Kid.

“Playing with such as Crosby as a partner is a pleasure,” Malkin said. “He’s the best hockey player in the world. Of course, I miss him and Pittsburgh. I can call this city my second home. But it turned out that I’m playing here now. It’s a joy for Russian players to compete in their own land at their favorite arenas, making the fans happy.”

Do you see what you’ve done, lockout?

(Fun side note: RT.com spells Malkin’s nickname “Jeno” instead of Geno. That’s pretty endearing … unless that’s the accepted style. Can we get a ruling on this?)

  8. joeyashwi - Dec 20, 2012 at 11:22 PM

I’d spoon Bettman if it meant the lockout was over.

    • 1943mrmojorisin1971 - Dec 21, 2012 at 3:38 AM

That’s not a bad idea but I’d need a guarantee along the lines of, “No more lockouts for 1,000 years and Bettman evaporates the second the puck drops.”

  9. mrwings787 - Dec 21, 2012 at 12:08 AM

I miss Wings vs Hawks, Pens vs Philly and Boston vs Canadiens… come on end the lockout and lets get back to hockey

  10. jimw81 - Dec 21, 2012 at 2:20 AM

    • ucaneverscorenoughgoals - Dec 21, 2012 at 8:45 AM

He’s not even a Pittsburgh fan. Just a douche with too much time on his hands to create hundreds of names like “hotloins…….”

    • necromerlin - Dec 21, 2012 at 9:07 AM

Sorry we have been busy watching meaningful football games. When’s the last time your dream team made the playoffs. Jagoff.

      • tfoz5150 - Dec 23, 2012 at 12:55 PM

  15. broadstbully33 - Dec 21, 2012 at 9:25 AM

Ok…. When where the pirates even relevant?

    • sportsfreak13 - Dec 21, 2012 at 10:18 AM

Pretty sure they last won it all in 1979. Last time the flyers won it all was 1975. Cue the “but at least we are competive” arguement now. Man i miss hating on flyer fans.

      • tfoz5150 - Dec 23, 2012 at 12:56 PM

        Pirates are double A

  16. broadstbully33 - Dec 21, 2012 at 10:55 AM

And phillies won in 2008 what’s ur point

    • sportsfreak13 - Dec 21, 2012 at 12:29 PM

My point is that even as bad as the pirates have been over the past 20 years they have still won a national championship more recent then the flyers. Sorry forgot i was talking to a flyer fan and had to dumb it down.

      • tfoz5150 - Dec 23, 2012 at 12:57 PM

Pittsburgh’s not even a real sportstown. You have no basketball.

      • sportsfreak13 - Dec 24, 2012 at 9:38 AM

For not a real sports town we do pretty good considering we have 6 lombardi’s, 3 Stanley cups, and 5 World Series. Beat it troll.

  17. broadstbully33 - Dec 21, 2012 at 10:56 AM

When is last Tim a Philly team went bankrupt? Cue the Pitt fans are not wagon jumpers lol

  18. mj1818 - Dec 21, 2012 at 11:11 AM

And Philly fans want their coach fired in every sport if they don’t win a championship in the current season.

  19. broadstbully33 - Dec 21, 2012 at 12:01 PM

Mj1818 that has to be the most uneducated comment of all pht history which is saying a lot considering the 1 pens fans that comment

  20. broadstbully33 - Dec 21, 2012 at 12:37 PM

U were watching meaningful football in may?

  21. id4joey - Dec 21, 2012 at 5:16 PM

Wow! Reading about the Pirates in the 70s brings back so many memories. Willie Stargell, Roberto Clemente(one of my favorites), Steve Blass (he actually gave me his cap), Manny Sanguillen ( good man) Richie Hebner, and others. Roberto Clemente actually shared with me how he enjoyed his humanitarian efforts for the people in Nicaragua. So sad that he died in an aviation accident on December 31, 1972, while en route to deliver aid to earthquake victims in Nicaragua. So sad for the world and his family.
