Fehr on Daly’s statement: “I certainly hope he’s right”

Dec 19, 2012, 6:49 PM EDT

Donald Fehr AP

When Bill Daly told Hockey Night In Canada radio today he believed there will be a season, it gave fans a reason to be optimistic. They’re not the only ones.

Before tonight’s charity game between Team Subban and Team Stamkos in Toronto, NHLPA Executive Director Donald Fehr spoke with the media and when told about Daly’s proclamation, he was his usual understated self.

“That’s good news. I’m glad to hear that. I certainly hope he’s right,” Fehr told reporters.

Hope? Optimism? A return to the bargaining table? We can hold out for all of these things, but for now all these quotes are good for are to show us what we’ve known for some time now. We know both sides want to play hockey and they want to get a deal hammered out on their terms.

For now, since they’re not talking with each other they’ll continue to talk to just about everyone else.

“Done deal!” The scoop is out. They met this week and will soon be announcing the details of the season to begin in early Jan.

    • phillyphanatic77 - Dec 19, 2012 at 8:22 PM

How do you know this before any member of the media? I would love to believe it but I absolutely don’t.

      • id4joey - Dec 19, 2012 at 8:46 PM

Listen, I wrote that this is a scoop, and I take no credit for it. If you look hard enough in the media you should be able to find it. Seems like only one insider got the news. I’m just a conduit this time around.

      Source?

    • valoisvipers - Dec 19, 2012 at 11:05 PM

Has The Great Joey done it again? Well folks you can say you heard it here first on PHT and of course by our good friend Joey.Thank you Joey

      • id4joey - Dec 20, 2012 at 12:03 AM

        You’re welcome, friend.

He’s not your friend, buddy….and I’m not your buddy, guy.

    • bloominoctober - Dec 20, 2012 at 3:34 PM

Joey … you’re an idiot, and your “source” is just as inaccurate as you are. Looks like you were wrong YET AGAIN. Go away now.

Expect word today\tonight the NHL will cancel regular season games thru Jan 14th. End of the line after that…I suspect.

  2. id4joey - Dec 19, 2012 at 7:01 PM

Pat Brisson is calling the payers he represents telling them to be ready. He had a private conversation with Fehr, and played a huge role to bring both sides to the table.

  4. flyeredup - Dec 19, 2012 at 8:43 PM

Joey figures if he cries wolf enough times, it will happen. Remember, he guaranteed New Years Eve games. Joey steals Aaron Wards tweets and treats them as his own. Joey is a farce.

    • id4joey - Dec 19, 2012 at 8:47 PM

Aaron Ward. What the hell do I have in common with him?

    • id4joey - Dec 19, 2012 at 8:49 PM

I told you guys, this is not my scoop. stop trying to give me credit for scoops I didn’t find myself. Dang!

  5. starsfan11 - Dec 19, 2012 at 9:20 PM

    Joey
There is no news of this anywhere on the internet. No respected hockey writer is saying anything about this. Why should anyone believe you. How many times have you been wrong about the season starting.

Watching the NBA…because they you know…play their sport…WHERE I CAN EFFING WATCH! Players suck, I really hope the fans that go to games stick it to them and don’t just pretend the lockout didn’t happen.

    • antkowiak666 - Dec 19, 2012 at 11:45 PM

      the NBA sucks!!

  8. blomfeld - Dec 20, 2012 at 12:42 AM

Let us ignore the utterances from the imbecile Fehr !

Like many of you friends, I too recognize Fehr only too well for the pathetic and “payed” patsy which he is. Whatever he says is irrelevant as he’s nothing more than a stage prop or “set decoration” in Gary’s grand stage play …

    _______________________________________________________________

    BETTMAN PRODUCTIONS: THE LOCKOUT

Act 3, the Final Scene … “all’s well that ends well”

Like many of you friends, I too am just a humble “Lover of Truth” who seeks nothing more in life than a fair chance on an “even” playing field, God willing. And on that score, this admission today by Daly is met by us with a sense of great relief and gratitude. You’re “BUSTED” Mister Bettman and we’ll have you know that that comes not a minute too soon, you bastard !

Right from the start back in September, we suspected that this lockout was nothing more than a “charade” designed to eliminate the forward end of the schedule … we suspected that Donald Fehr was a “compromised” patsy who you fiendishly placed at the helm of your nemesis in-order to ensure the outcome of your agenda … we suspected that your “new order” (diktat) to the players was already a “fait accompli” as far back as last summer … and we suspected that the owners and certain “elite” players have been apprised of your little caper right from the beginning. Well today my friend, thanks to your stupid “bald-headed” lieutenant Kojak, that which we’ve suspected all along now appears to be finally vindicated !

And so the show will recommence in January and I’ll be watching no doubt because I’m a “true” fan of hockey, as is most everyone else who visits this site. Nonetheless, your little charade here is fraught with blind arrogance and a complete lack of real vision. Your expansion into the American “sunbelt” has been a colossal failure and no amount of “fake” lockouts or “player bashing” will ever change that. Yes, you might think that you’re now about to take a big step forward ? But trust me friend, come next summer you’re likely to find yourself a whole three steps behind … and that’s a shame.

  9. fortwaynekomets - Dec 20, 2012 at 1:52 AM

Joey, while everyone would love to believe you, they simply cannot and should not.

why? because you GUARANTEED the season to start ATLEAST a dozen times over the last 2 months. its obvious you were just “speculating” and trying to foreshadow the future so you could come here on PHT and say “seeeeee! I told you so!” in the hopes of gaining some insider cred.

we also know that you post under at least 3 other names on this forum as someone outed the matching IP addresses a few weeks ago.

listen, post as much as you want, knock yourself out. just don’t give the new readers of this site (who don’t know your horrible reputation) a false report from your “sources” only to set them up for a major letdown. its just not right.

    • blomfeld - Dec 20, 2012 at 2:13 AM

      FEHR LOVERS RAUS !

fortwaynekomets – listen friend, it’s not clear to me what you’re talking about in terms of Comrade Joey, this idiotic notion of multiple handles or the business of a “contrived” lockout ? What is clear to me however, is that you sir are not only an avid promoter of B-grade hockey, but as well you’re an “unabashed” and “uncompromising” Fehr Lover ! As such, the coming days are surely now going to reveal you and your “weak-kneed” ilk for the miserable frauds which you are !

    • valoisvipers - Dec 20, 2012 at 10:12 AM

fortwaynekomets Seriously do you really think that Joey posts under 3 different names. Really? Joey has good hockey knowledge, great wit and thick troll resistant skin,Blomfeld is a seriously smart historian and is tech savvy and I am just an average person who enjoys their posts and dislike the unwarranted troll abuse that they have to endure. Now I understand that there is not much to post about hockey wise so trolls will abound but we here at PHT should be very grateful for having people like Joey and Blomfeld here to help us get through these trying times.

Unt 28 game “season” ist un misnomenclaturon, because iffen ju divide 28 vy 82 ju gets .34 not 1 . Unt zense ve all knowen dat der whole ist equal mit der sum uf der parts dissen means ve vill only gets un .34 seasoning dis jar.

Therefore I vould say un .34 seasoning is virst den no seasoning at alles.

  13. manchestermiracle - Dec 20, 2012 at 10:18 AM

“That’s good news. I’m glad to hear that. I certainly hope he’s right,” Fehr told reporters.

For someone who’s supposed to be a critical part of getting any kind of a season in, Fehr sure sounds like an average fan: On the outside looking in, wondering where the hell the people are who are supposed to be running the store. Just another CYA moment….

  14. bricktop02 - Dec 20, 2012 at 4:03 PM

On a positive note; Will there be a season? Bill Daly says, “Yes”

    Hmmmm! Friends! You are my friends. Right! Let us cozy up with a friend in need. Show me some love! I’m standing by “Done deal!” for now. I’m not surprised that games won’t start until mid Jan, but, the fact that they announced the cancellation; instead of announcing the season would start Jan 15 is jaw dropping. This is shocking….. I need a drink, and if the cup was still in town then I’d be drinking out of it until I was pissed. Right now I’m too stunned to make any calls to my sources, but, fear not, there will be calls going out later. I leave you with this article;

Not for nothing, but Fehr’s got no dog in this fight other than to “win” it. I wouldn’t take his hope as “certain.”

joey, blomfeld, valoisvipers, sportsfan, skatex, whatever name you feel like replying to me today, YES I do promote AA hockey on here, what do you do besides drive people off the site and make completely wrong predictions? nobody wants to see your dumb little YouTube videos you post from all 6+ screen names you have here.

and ill tell you again, catch all the ECHL, College, CHL hockey, etc. on America One Sports online! I am trying to help hockey fans whereas you are just a turd of a troll who wants attention.

  21. sportsfan69 - Dec 20, 2012 at 9:49 PM

    Fortwaynekomets,

Thanks, but NO thanks! It’s minor league hockey. It’s NOT even free. If I’m going to watch hockey, I’m watching it on my 60″ tube. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. My postings are designed to be fun, informative, comical, and metaphoric. You’re obnoxious and a douche bag.

Mark it down, by January 5th. We’ll either have a CBA completed or a cancelled season. This website has been a great stress release. There is some outstanding people on it, who love the game of hockey. I miss my favorite sport. There nothing like a live NHL game. Greatest sport on Earth.
