Friends, I seriously get tears in my eyes every time I hear this song? On some occasions in fact, I will start crying uncontrollably ? I don’t know what it is, but I almost “always” truly lose it ? In all seriousness … do you guys sometimes feel the same thing, or am I just some freak who was born in Montreal who maintains strong emotional ties ?

And about bloody time too, eh ? Despite the fact that this communique was likely suggested by his handlers, I still say “good on you” sir for finally doing the right thing ! While the lockout perhaps started out as a lark for some (myself included), I can assure our American friends that this is now no longer a laughing matter. NHL hockey in Canada is as “essential” to our very existence in the winter, as baseball is to you Americans in the summer. I am a Canadian man and I don’t like what’s happening today one bit .

3 to 1 against a post that says Gary Bettman must go. The same Gary Bettman who is booed when he
goes outside to eat a meal, booed when he gets into his car, booed when he brushes his teeth, booed
by his own family, for chrissakes. I have never ever ever ever seen this man at a public event when he
was not lustily booed. Continuously. Loudly. Nonstop.

But on this forum, where anyone who dares to suggest that the league’s PR department is not in ultra
overdrive in an attempt to massage public opinion (see Luntz, Frank) is attacked, we are supposed to
believe that a post calling for Bettman’s job is roundly disapproved by a 3 to 1 margin.

Yeah, right, sure. There is no ballot stuffing going on here. There are no shills logging int to skew
results. No way! Absolutely no way. This is a true measure of the respect and affection that the hockey
world holds for Mr. Bettman. A call for an end to his reign of error? A resounding answer from the
masses: Leave Gary alone! He’s doing a great job! All hail the Bettmeister!
