i say we all pool our resources and hire ron hextall as goodwill ambassador to the fans. he can sit in on meetings and any time someone steps out of line he can engage them in a game of “stop hitting yourself”.

I’m not disinterested, as a fan I’d simply like to find a way to influence them when they are acting like children, so we don’t have to sit here and watch it go on for months. The longer the two sides take to make a decision the more options take the clear middle ground between both sides.

A for instance of this could be could be each issue has 5 days to be decided upon, after that the middle ground between the issues takes effect. If the players want more of one thing they have to give up more of something else and visa versa for the owners.

We would have been done with almost everything by November even if the lockout started on September 15 and we would have still had an 82 game season.

People need to stop comparing the NHL to the nba. This is a different situation and different people. Last I checked the nba didn’t have a bettman or fehr. That said this could work out if everyone stopped trying to be the nba or nfl. Focus on what u need to do, not what they did.

Something the players need to be aware of is the NHL owners are not like the NBA or NFL owners. The NHL risks are nowhere near the losses NFL or the NBA would have experienced in this situation Also the NHL owners have demonstrated the resolve and the emotional and financial wherewithal to support losing an entire year of revenues. I’m hoping this is all posturing, but if the PA wants to “go to the mattresses” they better be ready for a long battle.” I think the owners will dig in even harder this time. While the player will lose another year of NHL salary, most owner will write off hockey losses on other business and pay less taxes and maybe make more money. Is this fair? No, but it is free enterprise.

According to Renaud Lavoie, there are 2 separate items the players are voting on. 1) disclaimer of interest 2) creating a professional association that will be responsible for non hockey related negotiation. i.e. no contract negotiations
