Of course it’s obvious the owners are driving the bus. Never disputed that fact. Right now the owners are still driving the bus, and the players better get on if they wish to see what is left of their salaries this year.

Right, because it’s the CBA, not the stupid owners, that hand out $7M/yr to a third-liner…you do realize your argument proves that the owners are the ones driving the Stupid Bus, don’t you? A player gets offered $7M and he’s going to turn it down for ‘the good of the league’? THAT would be a stupid player!
But thanks for helping to show where the majority (& I say majority because greed on BOTH sides is keeping this from getting done) of the fault really lies!

They allow players to vote on the filing of the disclaimer of interest, but not on one of the many proposals. The league has made concessions, but greedy players need more. I guess 2.5 million per year for a less than marginal 3rd liner is not enough, and 7 million per year for an under achiever relegated to the 3rd line is considered being under paid.

We need an “Old Timer” to help the NHLPA out of it’s self destruction. A retired player, who’s well respected, an Ambassador for the game.
