PHT Morning Skate: Where Noesen’s suspension might keep him out of World Junior Championships

PHT’s Morning Skate takes a look around the world of hockey to see what’s happening and what we’ll be talking about around the NHL world and beyond.

Is it possible that this year’s edition of Canada’s World Junior team will rival the one they had during the 2004-05 lockout when Sidney Crosby, Patrice Bergeron, Ryan Getzlaf, Jeff Carter, Dion Phaneuf, Brent Seabrook, Shea Weber, Mike Richards and Corey Perry — among other future NHLers — crushed the competition en route to a gold medal? The 2013 squad certainly has big shoes to fill. (Winnipeg Sun)

Meanwhile, Stefan Noesen might lose his chance to represent Team USA because of a 10-game suspension handed to him by the Ontario Hockey League. (Ottawa Citizen)

Montreal Canadiens teammates Yannick Weber and David Desharnais found themselves at opposite sides in the Swiss League. (Montreal Gazette)

Connor Bruseski is the Tampa Bay Lightning’s 13th annual winner of the Lightning Community Hero award. Bruseski learned he had Lymphoma at the age of six and decided to raise money to fight cancer and help other children. The Lightning Foundation and the Lightning Community Heroes program gave Bruseski $50,000, which he will donate to the All Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Dream Fund. (Lightning.nhl.com)

JC Lipon didn’t get selected during the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, but that’s not likely to happen again. (Calgary Sun)

The Pittsburgh Penguins have opened “Penguins Pond,” an outdoor rink that will be available until January 13. (Penguins.nhl.com)

Noesen should be allowed to represent the US in the World Jrs. the infraction happened in the CHL, so therefore his suspension should remain in the CHL,not the IIHF.

If you get a criminal record in one state it’s recognized by other states.

      • antkowiak666 - Dec 15, 2012 at 2:34 PM

i didn’t realise he raped someone out on the ice.

Canadians trying to keep players from other countries out of the tournament…. They can’t stand a fair game

    • id4joey - Dec 15, 2012 at 11:03 AM

Says the American who’s government caused the financial market to collapse and ensuing global economic meltdown. That you for that the all mighty U.S. of A.

      • manchestermiracle - Dec 15, 2012 at 11:48 AM

A lack of oversight caused the issue. Yes, that’s the government’s fault, but the government didn’t make the highly-speculative bets that failed.

      • crambow - Dec 15, 2012 at 11:56 AM

Since you’re giving out lessons today, try using ‘whose’ instead of ‘who’s’, Mr. Spelling Teacher.

      • id4joey - Dec 15, 2012 at 11:59 AM

Thank you, crambow. Missed that one.

      • id4joey - Dec 15, 2012 at 12:03 PM

Betting was once banned, and then legalized again after 50 consecutive years of economic growth. That was the government’s doing.

      • crambow - Dec 15, 2012 at 12:26 PM

It’s all good, Joey. I know you’re an excitable feller and the hockey-less frustrations we all share right now can easily set off any thread in any given direction with little provocation. I just didn’t think derivatives, credit swaps and MBS products would intermingle with the plight of the lockout.

Maybe PHTers should make tonight ‘PHT Strip Club Night’ and go make a couple two-line G-string passes. PHT is quite the tenses – and understandably so.

      • zetaone - Dec 15, 2012 at 12:27 PM

Kind of a non sequitur there Joey..

    • mrchainbluelightning - Dec 15, 2012 at 12:16 PM

It’s Canadians fault the CHL and the IIHF have an agreement to honour each others suspensions?

Yet another post from broadstreet that makes him look like a lil boy with a lil boys understanding of the world.

That being said I seen the hit, he left his feet and delivered a dangerous hit that the OHL was not happy about seeing at this level of hockey, but deserved at the most 5 games.

  3. broadstbully33 - Dec 15, 2012 at 11:13 AM

    I’m Canadian bud

    • id4joey - Dec 15, 2012 at 11:26 AM

      Yeah! And I’m Gordie Howe.

Canadians trying to keep players from other countries out of the tournament…. They can’t stand a fair game

  4. broadstbully33 - Dec 15, 2012 at 11:18 AM

Your sources didn’t tell you that?

    • id4joey - Dec 15, 2012 at 11:31 AM

My sources say you are full of BS and don’t know how to write. Lesson 1.
I’m Canadian and we won the gold medal as opposed to I’m Canadian and they won the gold medal.

      • zetaone - Dec 15, 2012 at 12:29 PM

Oh great, who taught you how to bold words. We’re done for now..

  5. broadstbully33 - Dec 15, 2012 at 11:28 AM

    I’m not proud of it…

    • id4joey - Dec 15, 2012 at 11:32 AM

Who cares about your pride? You’re full of crap anyway.

  6. broadstbully33 - Dec 15, 2012 at 11:37 AM

I don’t like to admit it but your so important I thought I would share my deepest secret with you. Your welcome

    • id4joey - Dec 15, 2012 at 11:42 AM

It’s “you’re welcome” not “your welcome”. As in you’re American and not your Anerican.

      • killerpgh - Dec 15, 2012 at 6:10 PM

        Anerican?

  7. broadstbully33 - Dec 15, 2012 at 11:40 AM

My wife doesn’t even know that about me. I’m hoping the great country of the U.S.A will overlook that and accept me as one of their own. I hard to be known as a coward just because I’m Canadian.

    • mrchainbluelightning - Dec 15, 2012 at 12:27 PM

Listen you dumb fukc piece of sh1t. When was the last time you were in Afghanistan?

Why don’t you shuffle your fat a$$ down to a military base and start telling American or Canadian soldiers how cowardly they are, last I checked it was Canadians who have spent years fighting and dying in a war half a world away.

Last I checked when America needs to pull its forces for Afghanistan so they could go find those WMDas in Iraw, Canada was the one who increased our troop levels to fill the vacuum in Afghanistan.

So run along you filthy piece of non serving garbage and go tell the 158 families that lost their sons over there what cowards they were in your stupid lil boys eyes.

You’re exactly the stereotypical American the world talks about. Ignorant moron who asks like a tough guy despite never serving a day in his life. Who completely forgets who has fought and died along his countrymen since WWI.

You’re a worthless peon who hasn’t earned any right to call anyone a coward.
      Now Shut the Fukc Up

      • zetaone - Dec 15, 2012 at 12:31 PM

So.. fighting in a war and murdering people makes you a man? Have I got that straight?

      • mrchainbluelightning - Dec 15, 2012 at 12:38 PM

Willingness to sign up for 4 years and give your mind and body if your leaders tells you, means you’re not a coward.

You wouldn’t know anything about it, and the VAST majority of soldiers are not murders they are following orders and defending and fighting for the objectives they are told. But again, wasted on the likes of you.

Thank god there were not many of your types back in the 40′s.

  8. broadstbully33 - Dec 15, 2012 at 11:45 AM

That you…. See I can point mistakes too

  9. broadstbully33 - Dec 15, 2012 at 11:47 AM

Maybe I should have used my bold option so the point was clearer

    • manchestermiracle - Dec 15, 2012 at 11:49 AM

You could have used a hammer and joey would still argue with you.

      • id4joey - Dec 15, 2012 at 12:06 PM

        Always ready bro. Mano-a-mano.

  10. broadstbully33 - Dec 15, 2012 at 11:49 AM

    What’s Anerican?

    • id4joey - Dec 15, 2012 at 12:04 PM

      You.

  11. broadstbully33 - Dec 15, 2012 at 11:51 AM

You should really worry about your mistakes first

  12. broadstbully33 - Dec 15, 2012 at 12:01 PM

Stop guys he is sensitive when u point out his mistakes. We wouldn’t want him to stop posting his sources great inside info

    • id4joey - Dec 15, 2012 at 12:17 PM

Oh! Speaking of sources. So, I was at an open house yesterday. The Stanley Cup was there with the cup keeper wearing his white gloves. Too funny! Anyway, couple of ex-players were there, Unfortunately, the head coach that was supposed to show did not. Dang! One of the players had actually won the cup a few times. His thoughts on the lockout are much the same as many of you have been posting recently. The more informed and knowledgeable sources I have been speaking with can’t explain why the players are refusing to sign and jeopardizing a whole year’s salary to gain very little in return.

Send me an email at JoeyDumbfeld@gmail.com and I’ll a few pictures with you. Make sure you include your PHT name in the email. You know you can touch the cup but you are not allowed to lift it. Too bad!

      • mrchainbluelightning - Dec 15, 2012 at 12:34 PM

Liar, The Cup was not on display at ANY open house this past weekend.
The Cup has not travelled ANYWHERE since June 7th.

I guess you don’t know that you can track the Cup and all it’s movements huh?

This is the second confirmed lie from you.

        You’re pathetic man

      • id4joey - Dec 15, 2012 at 12:55 PM

You’re such an a$$ hole. Do you really think the NHL doesn’t use the cup for PR? You’re a f en moron and know nothing about everything.

      • id4joey - Dec 15, 2012 at 1:04 PM

Hey! You can call me a lot of things chainblue, but a liar I am not. Read this article and then tell me the Cup hasn’t move since June 7th. You are so busted. FU moron!

  14. broadstbully33 - Dec 15, 2012 at 12:05 PM

  15. broadstbully33 - Dec 15, 2012 at 12:13 PM
