Or .. ya know something like this;

"They gave us a take or leave it offer ...after we've already come miles off our original stance, and all they've done is ask for slightly less (Regardless of how you want to spin it the Owners have not given ONE thing to players from the standpoint of the last CBA, they've only stepped slightly off their original hardline offer which was never going to be accepted.) as if we have no choice in these negotiations, aren't actually partners here, and should simply accept whatever it they ask of us and continue letting them take more and more from us each and every CBA negotiations, and yet despite the fact that we met them halfway on the last 3 major issues ... they completely ignored our offer and stomped petulantly away"

I love how when someone holds a different opinion than you on a very complex issue they're just simply idiots.

This is why my predictions are not always realized. The sources I hear from experienced the same frustrating emotions as Malhotra.

”You get frustrated, you get angry, you get bitter, there are obviously highs when you feel like we’re really close to a deal and the lows of having those negotiations break off. You run through everything.”

"They gave us a take or leave it offer, we completely changed it and didn't give them anything they wanted....why wouldn't they say yes?"

The idiocy of the people that are the player reps of this union is mind boggling. It makes me wonder how clueless the rank and file must be

"The goddess of victory will smile only once"

Fellow lovers of history like me will know only to well that those were the words telegraphed from Berlin back to Erwin Rommel, in response to his request for approval to advance upon Cairo in late 1941. Though positioned only 50 miles from the Egyptian capital, the "triumphant" Afrika Korps at that point had less than 60 x "serviceable" tanks left in the line ... not to mention it's over-stretched supply lines, badly depleted ranks and overall battle fatigue, etc. As it was, Monty seized the moment and struck back with a fury at El Alamein, which would begin the "long and bitter" retreat for Rommel back across the desert and ultimately from North Africa proper.

In that context, I would submit that Malhotra is nothing more than some adjutant in Berlin, transmitting a message which we already know will lead to an outcome that we're only too aware of. Fehr is a Quisling and he's doing his part in ensuring that Bettman realizes his dream ... a smashed NHLPA and a resultant landscape strewn with phoney and contrived "propped up" sunbelt hockey franchises. All along this is "exactly" what you people have wanted and so now "I" for one say ... "please do enjoy that which now follows!"
