kcprof926 - I agree friend. As much as we love hockey ourselves, the fact remains that it's a "Tier 2" level sport at best here in North America and Europe, As for Asia, Africa, South America and Australasia ? ... well suffice it to say that it doesn't even cross people's minds, period. It therefore behooves the players to realize that reality and get with the program.

Stakex - Please note that the average IQ for a "normal" human being is at 110. Anyone pegged at 150 or higher is in the domain of "genius" which would include such people as Leonardo Da Vinci, Sir Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein and Bill Clinton. On the other end of the spectrum, people with an IQ of only 75 are technically classified as being "mentally challenged" ... or "Neanderthals" if you prefer the street term. Therefore I would submit to you that denouncing the "average" NHL player as an Neanderthal, is pretty harsh to say the least. No, I suspect that their average IQ is probably closer to the 80-85 mark, which would be consistent with a "well-intentioned" soul from the Bronze Era ! :)

Their television deal, 10 year, $2 billion dollar contract, with one of the largest media conglomerates in the world, is hardly one to sneer at. Not only do they have the NHL Network, they have a dedicated network that has the ability to show more games than any other league.

The players have been locked out, they can't play, it's up to the owners.

Instead of sounding like a moron, do a little research.

The last comment is so right on. The players don't understand all the issues of this complicated contract . They keep saying they want to return to the ice well if that is the case just return. Fehr is the problem here and will call Bettman's bluff and I say he won't budge. The NHL needs to remember it is not the NFL and whose tv contract is with a network whose main rating is calf roping. Get real and just agree and play hockey and Jamaal Mayers needs to keep quiet.

This is what happens when you negotiate with a bunch of guys that have an average IQ of 75, and too many concussions.

The NHLs stance on those three drop dead issues never changed, and has been public knowledge for a while now. So when they made a concession on the "make-whole" clause... obviously those drop dead issues were still in place. Perhaps they didn't use crayons and spell the whole thing out, but when I make a concession to you and tell you I need these three things... its a package deal. Even if I don't strait up say that.

Given how angry Bettman and even the moderate owners were, I simply will not believe the NHL didn't make their stance pretty clear.
