Nash injures groin, returns to New York

Dec 7, 2012, 1:13 PM EDT

Rick Nash

Rich Nash‘s bothersome groin has forced him to leave Swiss club HC Davos, the New York Post reports.

The Post’s Larry Brooks passes along word that Nash left Switzerland on Friday after being bothered by a groin injury “for a couple of weeks.”

The Rangers’ prized offseason acquisition re-aggravated the injury this past weekend — in a 4-3 win over ECH Biel — and returned to North America to have it checked out further.

Nash signed with Davos on Sept. 15 — two days after the lockout began — reuniting with the club he played for during the 2004-05 work stoppage.

He’s since racked up 12G-6A-18PTS in 17 games, but has endured a couple of health issues (he was day-to-day with a shoulder injury earlier this season.)
